fresh: Creme Ancienne eye creme-so luxurious!

Want picture-perfect skin? All it takes are these simple tricks
10 Perfect-Skinned Women Spill Their Secrets
Wondering what she does to look so good? We found out her secrets to maintaining a flawless face, and we give you full permission to rip them off.

Hello my gorgeous friend! I love history and this eye creme that I tried is an amazing piece of history. Visit the website and read the history of how the formulation for it started!

It arrived in sumptuous packaging, which lately with all the reductions and cut backs, it was refreshing to get something luxurious.  The aroma of the creme is light, and butter sweet not floral sweet. It has a firm texture and holds onto the skin as it penetrates.

True, this is not "approved" on my HCG diet, but for the sake of science, I forgo protocol for but a moment!

I enjoyed it and recommend you check out the website to learn more about the healing properties found in this wee jar of eye therapy creme. It's so perfect for winter skin!  Below is a little information from their website, but why read it here, go get the full story on the site!

http://www.fresh.com/skincare/skincare-ancienne

CRÈME ANCIENNE EYE CREAM is the ultimate in age-delay for the delicate eye area. It is proven to visibly reduce the signs of aging, diminish puffiness and under-eye circles, and provide supreme nourishment.
Inspired by the world’s first cream of the 2nd century A.D, this lightweight formula is hand-blended in a European monastery to preserve its fragile ingredients and rich history.

Experience the proven results*:

- 100% of those tested reported a hydrating and nourishing effect

- 94% felt crows feet were less noticeable, skin felt softer, and the eye area was revitalized.

- 90% noticed a soothing effect

You know I think it's so soothing because it is monk made. Monks make alot things turns out: cheese, wine, eye cream and beer.

And I quote Dogfish Lou of the Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, "there are only six beers in the world made by monks. Westmale,Westvletaran,Achel,Rochefort,Orval, and Chimay.".

The Chimay is light and lovely, try some while tapping onto your delicate eye skin some fresh creme ancienne!

Alba Botanica Rainforest Gentle Acai Renewal Scrub

Don't be afraid of the box -- with these tips it's a snap to color your hair
21 Tips for Perfect At-Home Hair Color
Coloring your hair at home is a great way to save money, and if you do it right no one will even know the difference. Of course, it can be a little tricky, that's why we put together these tips to help get you through the process drama-free and with fabulous results.

This tube of goodness! It's an antioxidant filled scrub that uses super fine walnut shell based exfoliants. Oh does it feel so good! It's similiar to Dermalogica Microfoliant in texture though has a rich, earthy, nutty scent that is subtle yet good.

The scrub combines Acai Nut Powder, Cupuacu Butter and Andiroba Oil to soften while revealing healthy skin underneath winter dryness.

It's ideal for all skin types, contains certified organic botanicals, is hypo-allergenic, pH balanced and 100% vegetarian with no animal testing.

Funny how I got this sample: I came by it sideways as I was researching HCG Diet Protocol products that would be congruent with the original Dr. Simeons transcript of how to effectively adhere to the diet.

The results of my research were laborious and intense only to come to the final conclusion that Dr. Simeons in his "Pounds and Inches" manuscript said only two things were approved and only in extreme cases of dryness: mineral oil and petroleum jelly.

I find that difficult to swallow since they are the two things I would never want to put on my skin. Alas, his reasons are "because they don't penetrate the skin and only moisturize on the surface level".

These rich natural butters and oils do exactly what they are supposed to: slowly absorb into the upper dermis and moisturize the skin, feeding it and plumping it.

For all of you not on the HCG diet protocol, go get some Alba Botanica Rainforest Gentle Acai Renewal Scrub at your local Sprouts or Whole Foods! Visit their website for more information at http://www.albabotanica.com/

HCG update, Phoenix Open style report and mobile blogging

Follow this guide to find out which facial filler is right for you
The 411 On Popular Facial Fillers
Want to look younger and don't mind needles? Getting a facial filler might be a great choice for you then. But before heading to the doctor's office, see which ones are most popular, as well as the pros and cons of each.

Seriously, just seeing the needle in the beauty bubble today makes me queasy. Never mind about the tattoos, it just makes me; shall we say, nervous?

I write with some updates for you:

First: the Dr. Simeons HCG diet protocol is working and through this process I have picked up the new talent of being able to make really good fish. Thank God.  In Dr. Simeons manuscript "Pounds and Inches" it gives you many choices for a protein source, though it is emphasized that the people on the diet protocol who ate fish more than the other options lost more.  So, fish it is!

Second: the Waste Management Phoenix Open PGA tour stop is in my town, well more like next to my town down the street in Scottsdale. I'm going out in the field to report on the style status and looks being worn but I just saw the weather. Rain. Hmm, we shall see what happens there.

Third: I've learned to mobile blog from my phone. Wow, my next trick is to master linking and begin to link it up!

Fourth: The photos from the Arizona Renassaince Faire are amazing! Thank you very much to photographer Brandy Caldwell of As You Wish Photography! This means that the first week of March the beauty stories will be coming your way.

Fifth and finally, I do have some fun product giveaways coming up. So please bookmark and stay tuned for those!

P.S. Please put your sunscreen on while enjoying snowy winter sports to keep your beautiful skin protected!

Smart Cover? Smart idea!

It's true! You can get gorgeous liner for way cheap

19 Amazing Eyeliners for Less than $10
Before you shell out a bunch of cash on makeup for those holiday parties, check out this roundup of the best eyeliners under $10. There are tons of shades and types, from pencils to liquids, so there's no reason you can't get the look you want for cheap.

That's my foot and it has two tattoos, well, technically I have three tattoos there but that is another story for another time.  Below I'm doing a simple and easy tattoo cover up with Smart Cover. It's made from the same ladies who were part of Dermablend getting started.

This is the kit and it comes with all these pieces! Including a color corrector and three shades of beige to help select the right color to cover with.
Now a very informative instruction and product description pamphlet is included in the kit.  There are great tutorials and more info on the home page http://www.smartcover.com/

I think the greatest thing they did for the consumer is include the flat tip synthetic brush in the kit.  It is great for feathering the edges to smooth them into the skin.  Here is a step by step on how I did it so you can do it too!

Step 1: Start with a clean dry foot or piece of skin. Make sure the skin is free of any lotions that can inhibit the Smart Cover from binding to the skin.

Step 2. Apply a thin layer of the Smart Cover Color Corrector. Apply several thin layers at a time, letting the product dry in between layers.  It's better to apply a little at a time and build up to the desired thickness and coverage than have to back peddle out of a sloppy glop of product.

Step 3. Choose your shade of color to cover with: I used the stick of Neutral Beige. I warmed up the stick on the back of my hand, and then made several light strokes over the top of the Color Corrector. Then I used the synthetic flat tipped brush that is included in the kit to lightly feather and blend the edges of the Neutral Beige into the skin.

Step 4. I let it dry a bit, feathered and blended some more, applied a little bit more of the Neutral Beige and then blended a bit more til it was nearly gone on the edges. This entire process took under 10 minutes and that included the picture taking.

This is the finished looked. The only thing left to do before putting this foot into a shoe is to lightly dust the top of the foot with some translucent powder.

I hope this helps you if you ever need to cover dark circles, a tattoo ( oh the horror!) a spot of melasma, bruise or pimple.

So I got this sample of this ulta light creamy textured gel as I was beginning the HCG diet. I was so excited because I thought it was "approved" for the protocol.

Well, according to Dr. Simeons, the only thing "approved" is mineral oil or petroleum jelly in limited use in extreme cases of dryness.

I tried it and loved it. First, it comes in a tube with a nib at the end similiar to a lip gloss. Second it is so lightweight and hydrating that it absorbed right into my eye skin.

I am such a fan of the Zia Natural line for making great effective skin care products while using sustainable resources and organic ingredients.

Well don't take my word for it, visit their website and learn more about the Essential Eye Gel and the entire line. You can purchase at Sprouts, Whole Foods or the health food store near you!

Here's a little bit about the product from their website:

Zia Natural Skincare’s Essential Eye Gel utilizes all natural calming ingredients in an innovative soothing gel formula gentle enough for the most sensitive eye area. Don’t let dryness, puffiness, dark circles or fine lines take over your eyes.

Butchers Broom Extract combined with clinically proven peptide reduces under eye puffiness, Ivy Extract and Gotu Kola promote circulation, leaving the eye area looking awake and refreshed. Cornflower Flower Water, high in Allantoin and Vitamin K reduce inflammation and dark circles. Green Tea fights cell damage and aids skin repair. Organic cucumber and aloe soothe and nourish the delicate under eye skin.

This fresh, soothing gel costs $21.95 and is all natural and paraben free. Zia products are available at Whole Foods and other health food stores nationwide and online at www.zianatural.com.

HCG diet protocol product list

Follow this makeup tutorial, courtesy of Makeup For Life blogger, for a subtle, flawless finish
Beauty Step-by-Step: The No-Makeup Makeup Look
This spring, the trend in makeup is all about looking au naturale. See how to get the freshest face, eyes and lips you've ever seen.

I have learned something and it's odd but true: from what I understand from professional dietician interviews, groups and research there are only two things that can be used as body products that Dr. Simeons approved of in the original "Pounds and Inches" diet protocol.

Mineral oil and petrolatum.

Oh that was hard to say and disturbing to find out. At first I was very excited because from some information and perhaps some mis-information I was finding that you could use on your 21-40 days of active HCG dosing great natural and organic products, but alas, if you adhere strictly to the "Pounds and Inches" original protocol, there are NO products allowed and Dr. Simeons acquiesced only to mineral oil or petroleum jelly in extreme cases of dryness.

Remember this is from the early 1900's not the early 2000's: so the cosmetic products were different then.
The manuscript suggests dry brushing your skin for dryness or itchy skin. It recommends only powder, eyebrow pencil and lipstick.

Oh the horror of so many days without my usual palette of makeup!

I want to stick to the original manuscript outlined by Dr. Simeons. So if my choices are mineral oil or petroleum jelly, I think I'll go with dry itchy flaky skin.  I've been using that gooey stuff on my lips as needed except for the short duration of the party on Saturday I put mascara on, and I had to wear a full face of makeup for the photoshoot on Sunday.

That actually proved a problem because my skin was so dry, the makeup kept breaking up on my skin!

Get your mineral oil/petroleum wherever you choose to and use it sparingly. Remember the reason why is because it does NOT absorb into the skin. It actually makes a barrier.

All of the amazing organic and natural skin care lines that I love:
ALBA Rainforest collection
ZIA Naturals
J/A/S/O/N
Arbonne International:

Can't use 'em for quite some time now...

Don't get me wrong, there are people doing the protocol and using products such as Aubrey and Alba: but the original manuscript doesn't say it. Go with what is best for you.

p.s. after the diet I am going to soak in a lotion filled tub!

Ways to remove lipstick prints & the HCG report Day 10

Hi! I did not write the below report though enjoyed it and I think you may too!
Before you get to the fun stuff, here is the report from the HCG diet protocol as set forth by Dr. Simeons.
I had one long weekend of cheating! During my son's school party, I ate more calories than I had all week. And the scale reflected that noise! Then, yesterday during my photoshoot at the Arizona Renassiance Faire, again, I consumed more than my alotted 500 daily calories; and again the scale reflected it.

It's sad and disapointing to see that hard earned ground slip so easily away! So I'm back on it, melba and all today! No more cheating! I was 6 pounds from the goal, now I'm 9. Darn.  I'm back on the horse, now giddy up!
###
According to a news report, a certain private school in Washington was recently faced with a unique problem. A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That was fine, but after they put on their lipstick, they would press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip prints.

Every night the maintenance man would remove them, and the next day the girls would put them back.

Finally the principal decided that something had to be done... She called all the girls to the bathroom and 20 met them there with the maintenance man. She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major problem for the custodian who had to clean the mirrors every night (you can just imagine the yawns from the little princesses).

To demonstrate how difficult it had been to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance man to show the girls how much effort was required.

He took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it. Since then, there have been no lip prints on the mirror.
There are teachers...and then there are educators.

Winter Olympic beauty with Tanith Belbin of Team USA Ice Dancing

See the effects stress has on your hair, skin and nails then learn how to prevent it
Why Stress is Beauty's Worst Enemy
Is the stress monster starting to rear its ugly head? Well, you'd better make it stop (for your looks' sake). See how -- quick.

Today is so rainy and wonderful and perfect for relaxing fireside and watching the Olympics!
As I have continued to watch and enjoy my favorites: I have started to watch a wee bit of the Ice Dancing when I first noticed Tanith Belbin.

Photo credit: NBC Sports / USOC
In this photo she is with her skating partner Ben Ogosto. She is from Kingston, Ontario and raised in Kirkland, Quebec. She lived and trained in Canton, Michigan for years, before moving to Aston, Pennsylvania to train at Ice Works.

I think what stands out most about her is her amazing smile.

I was looking along the internet for some information about what she uses for products and came across talkingmakeup.com blog and it had an interview with Tanith sharing that her favorite beauty products are Cover Girl Lash Blast Length mascara and the Outlast lip stain.

Now I'm a L'Oreal Voluminous girl myself though I have been wanting to try the Outlast lip stain for some time now due to my preference in using them on makeup clients and for my own busy lifestyle.

Good luck to you Miss Tanith Belbin, 2010 Winter Olympic Team USA Ice Dancer!

Special thanks to talkingmakeup.com for posting the Tanith/Marta interview!
