Cellulite creams and options

TotalBeauty.com
Cellulite Creams that Actually Work

From Chanel to L'Oreal, which creams firmed thighs and which failed

Let's face it: Cellulite is a part of life most of us need to accept. Experts generally agree that while you can't completely get rid of it, you can minimize its appearance with the right products. But what are those? We had a panel test a variety of at-home approaches. Find out which products worked best for them -- and which were a waste of time and money.

See products

Okay, some products really do work, and the beauty bubble has a great list for you! Plus there are deep thermal treatments that can be performed in your local doctors office as an outpatient procedure.
If all of that is too much for you, just invest in the $40 pair of Spanxx brand ( do not get a substitute) body slimmers/smoothers.
p.s. Yep, this runner has cellulite. You won't see it because it showed up in a photo shoot that I did, and nope, those photos will go to the grave!

Best and Worst Highlights for Your Hair Type

Celebrities like Jennifer Aniston should be your hair color inspiration, but Lindsay Lohan, not so much

Considering highlights or wondering what went wrong with yours? Let these celebrities guide you towards the best (and away from the worst) highlights for your hair type.

See hairstyles

Okay...I want highlights but there is no way that I am doing anything to my hair! Not since the great bleach burn of 2007. See, since the "great bleach burn of 2007" I have used semi to demi color on my hair to keep it dark. Actually darker than it is naturally and I do it to keep the grey away!
So take a look at the pictures and send me your own worst or best highlight jobs!
Or better yet, if you know of a great stylist in the greater Phoenix ( by this I really mean Mesa) area, tell me!
Otherwise I have no choice but to travel to Robertson ave in Los Angeles and have Ken Paves do my hair. That will require a two month mortgage commitment!

The urban legends of beauty: what are yours?

TotalBeauty.com
16 Beauty Myths -- Busted!

We dug up the facts on everything from fighting cellulite to getting a "safe" tan

16 Beauty Myths -- Busted!

Beauty info gets passed through the generations but is some of it urban legend? See if you can determine what's myth and what's not.

Take the quiz

Okay, things like cat litter for clay masks, hemorroid creme for puffy eyes, or vaseline as a moisturizer? What beauty myth do you use or have tried?

One for sure that does work and is worth trying is two different types of at home exfoliators:

1. For soft hands: sugar and glycerin. The glycerin is something you need to buy at a drugstore, like Walgreens or CVS and it will be by the face cremes. Mix a bit together, enough to make a paste and wash your hands with it. Soft!

2. For exfoliation and revealing of new skin on dry chappy hands: lemon juice, olive oil, and salt! The fruit acid pulls off dead skin with the salt and the olive oil moisturizes. Wash your hands and enjoy the smoothness!

I think that may be one of the best parts next to the amazing deals that are going to happen this weekend because you are literally going to watch an expert work her craft so you can hone yours. Who couldn't use a little more glam in their life? We know we could! That's why TotalBeauty.com put together the ultimate guide to getting glam. From makeup tips and tricks to products to try, everything you need is here!

See guide

Memorial Day weekend:
One for remembering and one for thanking and here’s to looking at the future!
I know that current media is saying one thing, though I choose to believe the Word of God and what He is saying about right now.

There are too many great and mighty promises ready to come forth to not press in higher to the calling of the Lord. Hear Him wooing you deeper and closer to Him!
This weekend as a holiday has gotten sidetracked from what it truly was meant for and that’s to honor and remember our service men and women.

I remember my mom telling stories of when she was a little girl that she and her sisters, with their mother would make red poppy flowers to put on the graves of the servicemen in their local town cemetery. They would also spend time cleaning up the grave sites.

I’ve never gone and done that, though I think that it is a memory worth keeping.
Does anyone still do this? Do you do it for the family members in your lineage that have gone on to Glory or do you also do it for the unnamed and unknown soldiers?
Just curious, please post a comment if you do. Thanks!

And a big prayer and heartfelt thanks to the past and present service men and women in our military branches!

Tanning: the pros and cons

TotalBeauty.com
Seven Deadly Skin Sins

Want gorgeous skin? Start by making sure you don't commit any of these skin-damaging crimes

We hate to get preachy on you, but if you want your skin to look great well into your 80s, you'll follow this advice, courtesy of dermatologists and skin care experts. When asked what the worst possible things for our skin are, these topped their lists. So now, repeat after us, "thou shalt not"...

See sins

Remember back in history, very pale skin was considered beautiful because if you were tan it meant you were poor and had to work outside. Now, if you are tan, it belies you are rich and don't have to work inside and have all day to lay around poolside.
Funny how things change?
I like it when I'm tan, and evenly too. I've used the bed, the side of the river, at home do it yourself bottles, and the spray machine which is very similiar to being run through a car wash machine.
No matter which option you choose, remember to put in a skin saving pre-caution step. Such as sunscreen, moisturizer, and even drinking water and taking a collagen supplement.

Enjoy the beauty bubble and I look forward to seeing you at the next makeup class on June 1st at Fresh Start foundation for women.

If you're planning a wedding (or just going to one) in this economy, you're probably looking for ways to cut costs. One way: do your own hair or have a friend do it. You can still look gorgeous on your big day with one of these celebrity hairstyles.

It's wedding season across the nation and the "I do up do" is one for the memory making. I personally did my own hair, and the wedding was at the beach. So all the styles that I "practiced" at home in Arizona before leaving for the beach didn't work. Why? Because I didn't plan for the humidity. Next time: pack anti-humectant products if getting married at the beach.

I've got some product giveaways coming up, plus a review of RSF skincare for you. Get ready for something new to try!

What's your "glam" lip style?

TotalBeauty.com
What's Your Ideal Glam Lip Color?

Take this quiz to find out which lipstick shade reflects your personal taste

Soft on the inside yet bold on the outside, highly pigmented lip colors can speak volumes about your personality -- before you've uttered a word. Find out which shade of the beauty editor- and consumer-favorite MAX Factor Vivid Impact Lipcolor you should be wearing.

Take the quiz

Okay, officially one day til my birthday...oh my goodness do I ever love to celebrate my birthday. In fact, I love it so much I start celebrating it on May 1st and continue til May 31st.

And, in today's beauty bubble you'll see a link to click through for your "lip style quiz". Me, personally, I'm a nude lip liner and gloss wearer unless it's a photo, or professional event and then I'll wear lipstick. I do enjoy wearing a lipstain with my liner and gloss, such as Benefit Cosmetics Benetint or Lorac Sheer Wash.

I think the one thing I can say about summer lip looks is that you must, absolutely must wear a sunscreen on your mouth. The lip skin is so super delicate and a 30 spf applied daily would benefit.
If you haven't tried a lip product such as Aveeno, Chapstick, or Neutrogena that has an spf built in, then use your regular sunscreen to cover your mouth if you are going to be out in the direct sun.

Very few lipsticks have spf in them, though if you like a gloss, I recommend the Neutrogena lip sheers and cooling lip glosses because they have spf 20.

I'm telling you, secondary sun exposure is what can bring a skin mole challenge, so cover your self!

More tomorrow on the May 13th birtday blog! I'm such a spring chicken you have no idea!

Monday beauty & what "look" to wear to my birthday party

TotalBeauty.com
Readers' Favorite Blushes

Was Nars Orgasm blush no. 1? Or did another blush beat it? Find out!

A good blush gives a lit-from-within, healthy-looking glow, something we all strive for with our makeup. A bad blush gives a streaky, sparkly, clownish look -- not attractive. Luckily, TotalBeauty.com readers have tried tons of blushes, and here we share their favorites. Give them a try, they guarantee you wont look like you're auditioning for the circus.

See blushes

No. 19: Paula Dorf Cheek Color, $21

TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 9

It "was perfect for that just-in-from-the-cold flush" and the blushes "last all day."

No. 18: Clinique Soft-Pressed Powder Blusher, $18.50

TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 9

Readers say this blush is "very natural looking... it's nearly impossible to make yourself look clownish with it."

No. 17: Revlon Powder Blush, $9.79

TotalBeauty.com average reader rating: 9.1

This blush's greatest asset: its staying power. "I apply it at 5 a.m. and it still looks great at 8 p.m.," one reader says.

Hi!
http://www.springsoflivingwater.org/

Happy Saturday! There is so much going on in the Phoenix valley..but most importanly what's going on that you need to get to, not miss, and hurry up already is the revival outpouring going on over at the Hilton with Jim Samuelson.
http://www.springsoflivingwater.org/

Okay, I"ve posted the link twice so you can get there, I'll be there tonight after this afternoon's house party.

Oh! And the beauty bubble for today! The hair question! I have always had long hair and twice in my life short. Well, right now is one of the short. I'm not a huge fan of it, though that is what was necessary to get my hair healthy and healed of the bad bad bleach job of 2007. Yeah, really, it's taken that long to cut off the burn.

I'm using Arbonne Thermal Fusion hair enzyme to grow it out...but it's still taking time. I want my long hair back!

Enjoy your Saturday, the family and see you tonight!

Okay so it's summer-like weather and you may need to change up your style a bit from wardrobe to hair and makeup.
There are simple product mixing tips to create fresh looks for products you already have.
Such as:
Get one good gold shadow for summer and scrape a wee bit into your pot of clear lipgloss to have a golden shimmer gloss to wear alone, with nude liner or over a lipstick. That same gold shadow can be used just on the eyebrow, all over the lid, or as a top of the cheekbone highlight. When scraped and mixed with body lotion, the gold shadow becomes a sheer shimmer reflector on your skin.
That's alot of work for one gold shadow! Try these brands:
Wet-n-Wild loose minerals in gold at Walgreens for $3.99
Ulta Eyeshadow single in gold for $7.00
Too Faced eyeshadow single $16.00 at Sephora

Or, just hunt in your favorite beauty store for a single pot or pan of gold colored powder that will work for you in as many ways as you can make it!

Thank you for coming out to class last night at Fresh Start Foundation. It was a blessing to serve you!
