Side swept pony's are pretty & simple!

TotalBeauty.com
13 Best Celebrity Side-Swept Hairstyles

All it takes to transform a blah hairstyle into a hot trend is a different position

Take a nod from celebrities on the red carpet by sporting a side-swept style. The hottest looks right now, whether they're updos, left down, or adorned with a jeweled accessory, are sexy side-swept looks. See how these celebrities successfully pulled off the trend!

See hairstyles

I love the simple elegance of a side swept ponytail. The key to wearing this well is to have some root volume on the crown, and a wavy softness to the tail. Accessorize with a flower or scarf around the band, or even wrap some hair around it and tuck in with a bobby pin for added style.

Makeup for this type of hairstyle should be kept simple, with a focus more on the eyes than on the lips.

Speaking of makeup, how long has it been since you have rotated your mascara? Remember, with the weather changing it's a good time to change your makeup. Smell test your foundation, and if there is a hint of stink throw it out! Besides, it's time to go to a lighter, cooler tone anyhow!

Mascara needs to be tossed every 6-8 weeks. That's why I love L'Oreal mascaras, at an under ten dollar price point, you can easily afford to get one a month!

See you at the upcoming events and check back for product giveaways! Holidays are around the corner and I'm getting my favorite things together to give to you!

How beauty conscious is your city?

TotalBeauty.com
The 10 Most Vain Cities

Mirror, mirror on the wall, which cities in the U.S. are the vainest of them all?

We're all for wanting to look good -- heck, we spend our days telling you about the latest, greatest (and not so stellar) in the world of beauty. But then there's vanity -- being obsessed with looks to the point of spending major bucks on stuff that's supposed to make you pretty. We compiled data on the vanity industry -- plastic surgeons, tanning salons and businesses that cater to your hair, nails and skin -- to find out which cities are more obsessed than the rest. Find out if you live in a me-me-me city.

Alrighty then! This is the extreme close up picture of my nails after three days of typing, toddler'ing, and the wear and tear of my daily life.

Elizabeth Grant's Vitamin C eye pads...whoa!

TotalBeauty.com
12 Major Hair and Skin Issues -- Solved!

Get help for everything from cystic acne, hair breakage, psoriasis and more

Sure, we all get the occasional breakout or dry patch of skin, but if you're suffering from a more serious hair or skin issue then you need serious help. That's why we asked Dr. Heidi Waldorf, director of Laser and Cosmetic Dermatology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City, Arielle N. B. Kauvar, M.D., director of New York Laser & Skin Care, Jerry Teuschler, Principal Scientist for Proctor and Gamble Beauty and Grooming Science, and Head & Shoulders hairstylist Ryan Trygstad to weigh in. They gave advice for the big issues facing TotalBeauty.com readers, so read on for relief from your hair and skin woes.

See issues

Get ready to order something today to have on hand for travel, special events, in case of "recovery time", photos and in my opinion, every day!

I love things that give results fast and that's what I found in the Elizabeth Grant's Vitamin C Eye Pad. I had a last minute photo shoot at the Arizona State Fair on Saturday night. That was after I ran outside, toddler'ed all day, worked and then didn't drink enough water. So the heat and dehydration left me looking less that " ready for my close up Mr. DeMille".

I had just received this sample included in the White Tea experiment. You just open the pouch, and it's got a juicy serum with a light texture on a non adhesive eye patch. The emulsion keeps it stuck to your skin. I let them sit for fifteen minutes while I did my eye makeup and hair around them...and then I gently patted the solution in and peeled away the patch.

All the skin was smooth, fine lines were gone and my eyes looked great!

The patch has vitamin c to ward off free radicals and moisturize, chamomile to soothe and Torricelum to continue moisturization. The Torricelum is an exclusive moisturizing compound exclusive to Elizabeth Grant.

Since they are individually wrapped, these are easy to put in a purse, a travel bag, a diaper bag or your back pocket for the truly jet set. Enjoy and get yours at www.elizabethgrant.com

Does Your Hair Care Routine Need a Makeover?

See what steps you should change to get perfectly soft and shiny hair

Does Your Hair Care Routine Need a Makeover?

Lather, rinse, repeat. Seems pretty simple, right? Not so much. Taking care of your hair (especially when it's color-treated) can be tricky, and so many things out there (heat styling, the sun, hair dye) can keep you from your best locks. This quiz will show you what you may be doing wrong -- and how to make it right, so you can have the hair you've always wanted.

Take the quiz

Hello! You know me, "fragrance junkie"!
Now I just sampled these two fragrances and they are perfect for Fall leading into the Holiday season and unique that they have not been deployed through "gift" in the retail season so you are sure to be "scented" differently than the rest of the crowd at your office parties.

I mean, it's one thing to show up to an event in the same dress, but to be sharing the same fragrance with half the party is another thing. So it goes when the bathroom of the establishment has a dollar vending machine that sprays either Opium or Poison. Yes, I like these fragrances, just not from a public restroom in an industrial size sprayer.

Here's a bit about t he fragrances straight from the dairy of Maitre Parfumeur:
"...Evening in Forte Dei Marmian atmosphere of old world romanticism. The brightest stars catch my gaze..." and so on.

The Top Note is: bergamot from Calabria, Sicilian lemon, black pepper and grains of coriander
The Heart Note is: blossom, jasminie absolte, Turkish rose essence, violet and orchid
The Base Note is: benzoini, vanilla, tonka bean, heliotrope, white musk and sandalwood

This is the white bottle and it's available at Takayashima, Stuido Beauty Mix at fred Segal and Gus Mayer.

Now, the black bottle is lovely! More my scent! It's a bit more spicy and has a pine resin and incense smell to it. No wonder I like it.

The Top Note is: bigarrade, lime, mandarine, fig leaves, junioper, rock rose, basil, lavender and cypress
The Heart Note is: jasmine from Grasse, pine resine, mate and incense
The Base Note is: cedar wood

Yummy! Get yours t oday! I also Googled the fragrance names and found some online stores that are carrying the perfumes so go ahead and get yours today to allow shipping time before the Holiday season kicks into full gear.

Besides, you can use the new perfume at upcoming tailgate parties to stand apart from the smell of burgers on the grill. ;)

"It works wonders on my combination skin, leaves it feeling soft and silky afterwards and never dries my skin out ..."

Want to see what's no. 1? Click here!

Hello! Are you Arizona State Fair ready? Here's a simple review of some products t hat recently came my way and if packed in your bag can help you go from the office to t he midway easily:

First: never leave home without mascara and the new L'Oreal Extra Volume Collagen is a good one to have in your bag. It's a plumping mascara that wears light and feathery on your lashes. After wearing it running and through the heat of the day: no smudges or flakes and no clumping either. It's under $10 and you can get it at the Walmarts, Targets and drugstores near you.

Second: have a creme blush stick such as Cliniques blush stick in Glow. It's a warm bronze tone that can be applied to the cheeks and lips for an added warmth to the skin. If you are a bit tired, the added glow to your skin will help lessen the look of fatigue. It's a good idea to blend a bit across your forehead and chin to even out the warming look.

Third: a good red lipstick. Nothing says party like a rose tinted pout. Plus blue based red shades make your teeth look whiter. My favorite red is Lorac's Explore or Matte Cherry by Chanel.

Enjoy the beauty tips, check out the beauty bubble and see you on the midway!

Take the quiz

So as of late, I've been sampling and reviewing a variety of beauty products for you and this one is a real delight, and unexpected treat.

Toothpast Couto in review: the first formula of the Toothpaste COUTO, was registered in the city of Porto in June, 12th 1932, signed by Dr. Alberto Ferreira Couto, pharmacy manager. The doctor was helped by a dentist who was a friend and hepled to create the toothpate with the intention of limiting the widespread cases of gingival recession.

Receding gums happens more often than you think!Success was guaranteed due to the product's quality so that still today, for the leaders in Portuagal, saying "Couto Paste" is syonymous with toothpaste.

The small production is still in the hands of the last heir of the coutos, Alberto Gomes da Silva. The toothpaste contains NO fluoride, so you don't have to worry about slowly poisoning yourself and your family. Though it does contain natural peppermint, Menthol, Anethol, Thymol and Eugenol.Plus, I love it's vintage/retro packaging and when brushing with it, I got a good clean feeling, fresh minty mouth, and no sting on the gums plus a low amount of foam meaning no sulfite based foaming agents added!

Try some today: get it at http://www.luckyscent.com/ or Gus Mayer or Kuhl Linscomb. Enjoy!

Smart Mouth: part deux

Hello! It's day two and 48 hours later on my Smart Mouth zinc based alcohol free test.
Now when using Smart Mouth, it doesn't burn your gums like my favorite brand does. Sometimes the burning makes me think it's working? The Smart Mouth makes your mouth feel clean, it takes the furry socks of your teeth that may be left on after slack hazard brushing and in general, I like it!

You can get yours at most Walmarts, Targets, and drugstores in your area. There is a $2 off coupon on their main website, http://www.smartmouth.com/coupon
Now to achieve maximum effectiveness it needs to be used continuously for 1-2 weeks. So I will keep on the testing and stay tuned for the results!

Smart Mouth is being put to the test as I write! Yesterday, in honor of the Smart Mouth test, I ate six raw cloves of garlic! Then some dill dip! Yey for stinky mouth because I'm bettin' that Smart Mouth zinc based mouth wash is going to clean it up.

It takes a few uses to really sink in and prevent a build up of bad breath...so I used it last night. This morning, I ate more garlic and used it again. Now, tonight and in the morning I will finish my test and see if I have morning breath combo garlic bad breath OR if the Smart Mouth mouthwash really worked.

But why wait for my opinion? You can get a $2 off coupon and go down to the local Walmarts and Targets right now and get your own...http://www.smartmouth.com/coupon

Quiz: How Attention-Grabbing Is Your Style?

See if your look is cutting edge enough or if it could use a little inspiration

Do you get appreciative stares as you walk down the street, or do people merely look right through you? Your style is what people notice first, so it should be eye-catching and express your personality. Take this quiz to find out if your style is cutting edge enough -- then get customized tips and product recommendations to help you play up your edgy side even more.

I recently have been giving mineral makeups another try and I find that I'm liking it now that brands are coming forward without polymer based fillers to make the product bind to the skin.

Christopher Drummond Beauty is a fresh approach to mineral makeup. He has been in the beauty industry as a makeup artist for 15 years and has been making faces from the celebrity client to the everyday lady. He has heard first hand the complaints and compliments that women have about mineral makeup, then he turned it into his own hand crafted, small batch makeup.

I sampled the Saude Pele Radiance Booster and the Veludo Velvet foundation and used them both on set in my current photo shoots. If you ask me, the product performed well under stress, heat and hiking in heels through the desert.

Christopher Drummond Beauty compies with rules of the EU cosmetics drive, and does not have any known potential carcinogens, endocrine disrupters, sensitizers, mutagens, reproductive toxicants, developmental toxicants or neurotoxicans.

Phew! You can scratch that off your list of things to be concerned about! To see what I'm talking about and get your sample too, visit http://www.christopherdrummond.com
