In this winter weather, you may need to add something to your routine to get your skin in good shape for upcoming snowboarding trips, air plane rides or marathon running.

I hope you enjoyed yesterday's hat hair tips because those same style tips can apply to running in this weekend's P.F. Chang's Rock'n'Roll marathon. I'm not running this year, so I supppose I'll be wearing the usual.

At your convenience, click over to the Elizabeth Grant page and order a pair of eye patches. These are a simple cotton weave that hold the emulsion in the fiber and then adhere to the delicate skin area. Wear them for 15 minutes or in my case, until the emulsion has been absorbed and the eye patch begins to lift from drying.

I enjoyed the Vitamin C patches yesterday and they made a difference in my photos from the Dogfish Head dinner pairing with Bryan's BBQ in Cave Creek.

The next is at Cafe Binks and it's "Beer is from Mars and Wine is from Venus", get ready to eat five courses, taste 5 Dogfish and 5 special wines from a Napa Valley winery, then vote on the best pairings! More details to come soon!

FIDM, DECA nationals and Angela Johnson Designs need your help!

Mayday makeup artists and hair stylists!
If you are in the greater Phoenix area and available for a paid gig this Saturday, the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandise along with Angela Johnson Desings and the National DECA conference need their models for the show made up and photo ready to hit the runway.

Why you should do it:
It's paid
It's FIDM
It's a great credit and cause and Angela is my pal and needs a skilled artist to help her out because the other two flaked out. Yes, two, flaked out.

Here's the details:
It is Saturday Jan. 16th
It pays $100 for hair and $100 for makeup. You will need to be able to submit an invoice to me so I can send it to FIDM and they can cut checks.
There will be approx.12-14 models (2 different designers so half the models will have one look and half will have a totally different look)
They need to be ready by noon
It is at the Hilton Garden Inn in Phoenix
We can use one of the rooms at the hotel starting at 7:30am to get hair/makeup done. They need to be ready by noon.

Please contact Angela through the email on her website: http://www.angelajohnsondesigns.com

Conquer Winter Hat Hair

With Tips From Style Expert Yves Durif

Caring for your locks post hat removal during the frigid winter months can be tough. Profound Beauty’s “mane” man, Yves Durif of the Yves Durif Salon at the Carlyle Hotel, has tips and tricks to make your hair beautiful in spite of subzero weather!

•Add a finishing product to your styling routine to ease the electrical charge that occurs as a result of hat removal. The product will create a barrier between the hair and the hat, so when the hat comes off, the hair stays in place.
•Try the Profound Beauty Glossary Shine Serum to smooth frizz, reduce dryness and add incredible shine. SRP $30.00

•If your hair looks flat or dented when you take off your hat, just add volume. Keep a volumizing spray in reach: spray directly to the roots (if your hair is long, flip over and apply the product) and massage with your fingertips to reshape and re-boost body.
•Try the Profound Beauty Stylist Volume Spray for root-lift that lasts, with added texture to enhance voluminous style. SRP $23.00

•If your hair is long tie it into a loose bun at the nape of the neck before putting on the hat. It can be easily removed and hair still looks pretty. If you have bangs, pull them to the side and secure with a hairpin to keep them from denting or matting.
•Try the Profound Beauty Atmosphere Tropical Mist to refresh you style and add a lush finish. SRP $31.00

•As it turns out, the finer and straighter the hair, the more likely you are to experience hat hair. Shorter styles are at risk, too, because the hat covers every last strand. Adding volume to the hair before putting on your hat should help minimize the damage.
•Try the Profound Beauty Stylist Volume Foam for a soft hold that builds abundant body and tames flyaways. SRP $25.00

Queen Helene Mint Julep Mask: best kept beauty secret

TotalBeauty.com
11 Best Drugstore Mascaras

These products feel like splurging -- minus the high price tag

Are you a mascara fanatic? We are too. However, that doesn't mean we'll drop lots of cash on high-end mascaras (well, OK, it does, but we don't JUST do that). Especially when there are these cheap-but-awesome ones out there. Check them out, and say good-bye to your $20-a-tube days.

> See mascaras

Okay: today we focus on beauty and your budget. I have been in love with the L'Oreal line of mascaras forever! They are starting to creep over the ten buck mark which annoys me, yet has not detered me from buying them. I have several tubes at a time because I never know what my lashes will be in the mood for on a day to day basis.

Though before you click through the beauty bubble to see what all the fuss is about I must share with you what I'm pretty sure is one of the best kept beauty secrets and a must for your beauty routine.

The tried and true, been around forever mask by Queen Helene. It comes in a tub or a tube. It's less than five bucks and can be found at nearly every Target, Walmart or drugstore.

It smells good, has great slip and texture, dry down time is quick depending on the thickness of the application and is effective in minimizing pore size, tightening skin, sloughing off dull dead cells and in general, it's fabulous for less than five bucks.

I recommend this if you are in between salon/spa treatments or your favorite facial. This is a goodie to have at home for sometimes or always! Enjoy!
