Bullying is a life altering behavior for everyone involved. Not only is the person being bullied affected but the bullies are at risk for problems also. The scary thing is that no child is immune to bullies.

Make sure you talk to your kids about what is going on at school. Communication is key in building a trusting relationship with your child. I encourage you to have a discussion with your child about bullies.

If there is a situation that you cannot handle make sure to contact local authorities to find out about bully laws in your community. Love more and eliminate the all of those effected by bullies.

Today's guest post is from 2011 Miss Arizona's Outstanding Teen Marissa Mezzatesta. Enjoy!

When you look in the mirror who do you see, is it the person you want to be and love or has someone changed that. You are you and no one has the right to tell you other wise unless you let them.

Most of the time bullying comes from jealousy or the other parties lack of confidence, so it is important to remember how special you truly are. I have found that being involved in an activity you love and feel comfortable in, weather it is dancing, singing, drawing, writing, a favorite sport, or what ever you niche is, helps with ones self esteem.

So my advice would be to get involved at school or in an activity you love and make friends within this group who you know you have things in common with.

Having this activity to go to and these friends supporting you will lead you to happiness and give you the confidence you need to resist any outside negativity. You should never feel alone, so don’t hesitate to speak with someone about what is bothering you, because they may too know what you are going through.

The best way to stand up to a bully is by showing you are the bigger and stronger person and as I would like to say “kill em with kindness” :)

Be it from peer pressure, bullies or just our conscience the life of a teenage girl can be tricky. What I have found as a teenager navigating the lovely world of high school is to use music and sports as an outlet. If you had a bad day or just want to get out some energy, blast a positive song like “Keep Your Head Up” by Andy Grammer and hit the gym for an hour. You leave feeling refreshed, accomplished and with some extra energy. Don’t sit on the couch with depressing music or TV eating away your feelings and NEVER feel like you aren’t worth it."
