Clara's New York serum layering class with master esthetician Jennifer Adell - skin transformation!

MakeupUniversity was invited to the serum layering class with Clara's New York and master esthetician Jennifer  Adell. I learned so much and am now an avid serum layer'er in my skincare! 

As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and firmness, resulting in wrinkles and fine lines. It's a fact of life that we can't escape, but we can certainly slow down the process with the right skincare products. Clara's New York serums for layering are the perfect solution to maximize anti-aging and hydration to the skin. I had the pleasure of trying out their products, and I have to say, I'm impressed! 

I started my day with the collagen serum layered with the hyaluronic acid serum and moisturized with the Vitamin C creme. The collagen serum is designed to boost collagen production in the skin, which helps to firm and plump up the skin. The hyaluronic acid serum helps to retain moisture, which is essential for healthy, youthful-looking skin. The Vitamin C creme provides an extra dose of hydration and protects the skin from environmental stressors like pollution and UV rays. I loved how light and non-greasy the creme felt on my skin, and it gave me a nice glow that lasted all day.

 

For my nighttime routine, I used the retinol serum, which is my favorite. Retinol is a form of Vitamin A that has been proven to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, improve skin texture, and even out skin tone. The retinol serum from Clara's New York is gentle yet effective, and it left my skin feeling smooth and soft. I layered it with the rose hip oil serum, which is packed with antioxidants that help to protect the skin from damage caused by free radicals. Finally, I used the hyaluronic acid moisturizing creme to seal in all the goodness from the serums.

4. Fill the glass with ice and garnish with a pineapple wedge and a mango slice.

When to Pull Focus on Boundaries - 2023 Love Me Challenge Episode 5

Today's challenge is a positive push for you to pull focus on who, where, when, why, what your boundaries really are for you in your life. 

The video shows an example of back in the day, when working with 35 mm film in a camera, you had to measure the distance between the talent and the lens in order to "pull focus" for the scene to be shot clearly. Would you be so kind as to pull focus today on where your boundaries are that are important to you? 

If someone is closer in your life and causing drama, you may need to remeasure and pull focus on the boundary so you can see clearly just how close to you they can be. 

 Same goes for healthy eating - pull focus and keep the foods that cause inflammation and dietary distress far from you. Pull focus on your finances especially when you need to tighten the depth of field for your purchasing power and saving ability! 

 Apply the measuring of boundaries in every area of your life and reap the benefits of peace of mind, clarity in calling and knowing that what's near you is supposed to be there because you set a boundary that allows space for it.

How to Make 2023 Be the Best Version of You

As we enter the new year, many of us are thinking about how we can improve ourselves and become the best versions of ourselves in 2023. One key way to do this is to shift our mindset and adopt a growth mindset.

 

A growth mindset is the belief that we can develop and improve our abilities through hard work and learning. It's the opposite of a fixed mindset, which is the belief that our abilities are fixed and cannot be changed. Research has shown that people with a growth mindset tend to be more successful in various areas of their lives, including academics, athletics, and their careers.

Here are some tips for developing a growth mindset:

1. Embrace challenges: When faced with a difficult task, rather than avoiding it, see it as an opportunity to learn and grow.

2. Learn from failures: Instead of giving up when we make a mistake, see failures as an opportunity to learn and do better next time.

3. Stay curious: Keep asking questions, seeking out new information and experiences, and continuously learning.

4. Focus on the process, not just the outcome: It's important to focus on the effort and progress, not just the end result.

5. Embrace change: Be open to new ideas and change and don't be afraid of taking risks.

Adopting a growth mindset can help us achieve our goals in the new year and beyond. It takes effort and commitment, but the rewards are well worth it.

In addition, setting realistic yet challenging goals, making a plan and staying consistent with it, and surrounding yourself with people who inspire and support you are great ways to move forward as well. With these techniques, you are sure to see progress and personal growth in 2023.

How to remove a scar with silicone scar sheets by Nedd Innovations

Have you ever wanted to remove a scar that makes you feel less than your best? Maybe you have a scar from a c-section, or acne, post surgery or keloids.

I bought this on Amazon to work on removing a scar on my hand. I've been testing it out for several days. My favorite way to use the product is to apply at night and sleep with the silicone scar sheet on for as long as possible. 

Since the scar is on my hand and I'm always doing something, I find that wearing over night is best for me. 

Using the silicone scar sheet is simple! Each sheet is hygienically sealed in a package. You can cut the amount that you need to cover your scar completely and then put the unused sheet back in the package for use later. 

The silicone scar sheet has a sticky side that you simply apply and adhere to your skin with the scar. Then wear it for up to 12 hours or as long as possible. 

I'm wearing the silicone scar sheet on my finger and you can barely see it! The recommended use of the silicone strips is about 8 to 12 weeks for new scars. Though a large or older scar may take up to 3 or 6 months. The continual treatment of the scar and heal with time.
