Coachella beauty tip with Charlotte Tilbury

Hello Gorgeous-
I just got back from the Phoenix conference. More on that later. For now enjoy these Coachella beauty tips from Charlotte Tilbury!

Coachella is the ultimate cool, bohemian festival that often informs beauty trends and fashion styles for the season. The desert setting means dewy, creamy textures work well, rather than powder-based products which can slip off in the heat. These tips from Charlotte will keep you looking gorgeous from Coachella to Governor’s Ball and everywhere in between:

·                  Coachella is all about fringed crop-tops, and leg-baring denim cut-offs; so make like Gisele and use a moisturizing, gleam-getting, gorgeous illuminator cream to highlight your arms, legs, and décolletage. For the face, mix a high SPF with a light-reflecting illuminator like Tom Ford’s Summer Skin Illuminator for glowing protection. Build up the sheen on temples, cheeks and nose to mimic where the sun would light up the face.
·                  Create a seductive smoky eye in seconds with a crème eye shadow pen – you can keep it in your shoulder bag. Sweep over the eyelids, smudging outwards and upwards with your finger to create a winged look. For added summer sexiness, smudge underneath the lower lash line too.
·                  Add a pop of color to bronzed, freckled skin by using a striking stain on the lips – experiment with eye-catching coral, berry and plum tones of Becca’s Beach Tint. Cheat a smattering of freckles by painting them in using a soft, taupe eyeliner.
·                  Lipstick is your best friend. Vamp up your ethereal maxi-dress with a crimson pout and blend a little color onto the apples of the cheeks for an effortlessly pretty, dewy glow.
·                  Keep a little stash of pointed Q-tips, some face-wipes (festival is the only acceptable occasion to use these!) and a mini pot of moisturizer in your emergency kit. A Q-tip can help fix a poised feline flick on even the wildest of dance floors.

Coachella and Juice Plus : the weekend

Hello Gorgeous,
Well, let's just round out the Juice Plus conference in Phoenix as I transfer to Coachella.

Let's just say: makeup is amazing and transferrable!

So here I am hanging on to the goodness at the Phoenix Juice Plus conference
John Frieda hair irons abound! Why? Because they are so good and so effective and so affordable!
I've got my Juice Plus men speakers covered with the basics: I take the shine off their nose and put it on their hair thanks to OC8 mattifier and Osmotics skincare with Acai shine spray by Brazillian Blowout.

Now for my Juice Plux ladies, I use YBF primer on top of beautyADDICTS creme to powder foundation with cheeks by Benefit and lips by itCosmetics. The lashes are courtesy of Sonia Kushak!

What's the snack bar you say? It's the new Complete by Juice Plus. It has great texture, low calories, whole foods and all delicious. Need some? Ask your  JP rep!

As for me, I'm enjoying the view from my room of the BOB, which by the way in Phoenix is now called the Chase Field. There  was a gig game between the Dbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers-genes, sure, but I am more interested in rest!

So what does all of this have to do with the Coachella weekend? Well, back in the day I attended the first Coachella Music Festival and now that I am invited out to cover this weekend for beauty and brands, I have the option of attending on Sunday.

I will let you know how that turns out...

NAB: last day for me and some memories

Hi ya Gorgeous,
NAB 2014 in Las Vegas has been beyond amazing. I have learned so much and even got a trip down memory lane!

A while ago, the LVH was the Las Vegas Hilton and now it is the Las Vegas Hotel.

Not sure what happened there but what I do know is that at one point during a CES event I and some friends had gone to the LVH to see the Star Trek Experience because we are major trekkies!

The Star Trek Enterprise and the Klingon warbird are gone, but many of the original set design pieces of the Star Trek Experience are still there much to my delight!

And to think I found this by accident on my way to the Monorail. I was finishing an NAB session in the LVH (no longer the Las Vegas Hilton, now the Las Vegas Hotel) and I had ten minutes to get to the South Hall of the Las Vegas convention center. Sure, it's barely a mile-but, it's a mile of booths, people, gawkers, stragglers, lookieloos and then some!

I was in a hurry to make the Camp Takota panel and paused a bit too long to take too many photos of the old Star Trek Experience. Which is now a hispaniola Univision type bar in the LVH.
I don't know what that is like, but I do know what it is like to step back in time to a treasured memory.

Sort of like that time that Ms. Rener and I were on set at Universal and taking pics in the original set of the Bates Motel movie. Good times my friend. Good times!

So here I am at the Star Trek Experience bar which was slightly skewed towards the New Generation fans and you would expect Whoopi Goldberg in her character Guilan to come and offer me a Romulan Ale!

To know avail. (pun intended) Here I am being "beamed" up-or maybe, being affected by the time warp continuum?

Finally, I go back to the front to take yet one last photo before deciding to NOT to take the Monorail because it does not have a time schedule. Meaning, I am not balking at the $12 day rate, I'm merely concerned that I am going to buy the ticket and then be late for my Camp Takota session when I could have easily walked. Sweaty?

Sure. It was 98 degrees in Vegas today. For all ya'll who do not know the southwest, it is way too early to be this hot! I know many have endured the worst winter ever, but for me in the West, I am concerned that I am about to pay for the cooling bill of the worst summer ever!

I finished a great and productive, very entertaining, wildly connective NAB show only to get home to being spoiled by my family with a taco dinner and a fat jug o' wine to go with a copy of Smaug.

Oh, the full name is The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug. Otherwise known as part 2 of the series which wraps with a final edition, part 3 being...wait for it..no,really-wait for it. The premiere date has been moved from my Mom's birthday of July 18th, 2014 to...San Diego Comic Con 2015.

That's an ouch and it's good I have this big bottle of wine to help me!

Now, I am leaving for Phoenix for my most favorite client ever, Juice Plus. Wow. These people are awesome as a company and I love, love, love doing makeup for them!

Here is the press release for The Hobbit Part 3: There And Back Again, affectionately known as TABA.

###

The official press release follows:

“The Hobbit: There and Back Again” to be released July 29, 2015 and will premiere at Comic-Con International

Burbank CA, April 1, 2014 — “The Hobbit: There and Back Again,” the final film in Peter Jackson’s epic adaptation of the timeless classic The Hobbit, will now be released on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. This move is not related to any kind of production delay. Instead, it stems from Peter Jackson’s desire to debut the film in San Diego during Comic-Con International. The joint announcement was made by Dan Fellman, President of Domestic Distribution and Veronika Kwan Vandenberg, President of International Distribution, Warner Bros. Pictures.

Fellman stated, “When Peter Jackson approached us with the idea of hosting the largest-ever World Premiere for a film, we were excited at the prospect. Comic-Con International in San Diego is the perfect venue for a film franchise like “The Hobbit” and a fitting conclusion to this wonderful Trilogy. And although the film moves from its traditional holiday slot, it now sets itself up as a true Summer blockbuster.”

Jackson stated, “The worldwide support and passion of the fans been such an enormous part of the enduring success of these films. Once we started thinking about the right way to bring our Middle-earth journey to a close, we realized that it was only fitting to throw a party we could share with the folks who have been with us all the way — the fans. I’m delighted that New Line, MGM and Warner Bros. are equally enthusiastic about involving fans in what will be an amazing fan celebration of Middle-earth.”

“The Hobbit: There and Back Again” will premiere at Petco Park on the Sunday of the Comic-Con convention as the climax of a Middle-earth-themed carnival lasting the entire week of the convention. There will be music, food, artisans and artists, children’s activities and games of skill for everyone, not just Comic-Con attendees. Tickets for the Sunday world-premiere will be able to be won during carnival, as well as via contests that Warner Bros.’ partners will host in the months leading up to the event.

Added Kwan Vandenberg, “We realized we miscalculated the fan reaction to the Los Angeles Premiere of “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” and were delighted when Peter approached us with this exciting idea. San Diego, Comic-Con International, the Gaslamp Quarter and Petco Park are the perfect places to bring Middle-earth to life and we are confident the fans will wholeheartedly embrace this farewell.”

NAB 2013 in Las Vegas-so much to see...

Hello Gorgeous!
Quick recap from yesterday's very full NAB 2014 in Las Vegas. Wow. Technology has come along way baby when it comes to film!

Look at what's new at BlackMagic and will be ready for retail this summer...yep, that's a scanner and cleaner that converts to digital.
Now I'm at AJA and this is a super light, durable, ergonomic camera-it's awesome!
Holy smokes-this is one of my favorite things that I saw at the show. It's a real time dailies machine that is liquid cooled and portable, and keeps what's happening on set and what's happening in post tied together.
The demo was great and I can not get over the size of it!
Ah, it's unseasonably hot. It's too early to be this hot in Vegas! Even though I am already sweaty from the hot convention center, I have made it outside to see the Patriots Jet Team. The only civilian owned six aircraft aerobatic jet team in the United States.
The Patriots Jet Team pilots are former members of elite military teams. All except the one in the jet in this photo! It was so awesome!
Speaking of awesome, here is what is not. I'm tired! I sat down for a moment to rest my boots and reconfigure my afternoon schedule. That's when I noticed this sign. By the way, myself and 50 other people were all sitting on the stairs!
Now I am inside the Lennon Bus which is a traveling sound stage and recording studio dedicated to the passionate pursuit of music a 'la John Lennon. This was nice.
The bus is on tour and can be scheduled for an event if you are interested, so check 'em out!

This by the way, is super cool and I want one to visit my next event! See the movie theater? Great screen, great sound, comfy seat and super air conditioned. Guess what?
It is all inside the truck! It's a semi-truck rolling theater! I love it!
Time for me to go back inside for a super session that I was really interested: The New Frontier-cross platform content-where broadcast meets online. AOL, Conde Nast, You Tube, Mashable and the tv show Right Now were on the panel and had some great insights but no true answer as to when the online market is going to be financially viable for all involved.
Day is over! I'm so tired. Though the day was so good. I'm looking forward to what's next at NAB.
I'm also curious to see how people look because as I was leaving the convention center floor, there were the Twitter pop up bars and parties everywhere!

Ok NAB, ready set go for the next adventure!
