How to Glow Post-Summer and Look Appropriate for Fall

With these expert tips from MAC Senior Artist, John Stapleton, you'll find how to go from warm-weather to fall-appropriate makeup in a snap.

So I've been told by my Mancub that since it's the last day before Fall break that he needs blue hair to go to school. Really? I didn't know that about the last day before break means blue hair? Good thing I had some Streekers on hand to color in the tips of his faux hawk.

Streekers ($10.95 each); Select salons and cosmetic specialty stores; ULTA; or www.streekers.com
Unique hair colors that allow you to play with dramatic and colorful hair shades safely and temporarily. Created with advanced technology (it’s not a mascara or gel, like other temporary hair colors). Streekers instantly bonds liquid hue to your hair. The formula looks and acts just like permanent hair color, so you can brush your hair without dulling the shade or risking color flake-off.

Now that I know I'll get more colors for other "last days". The good thing about Streekers is that it's a densely pigmented product which adheres to the hair and believe it or not, will last through a soccer game of mad rushing Kindergarteners.

YOUNGBLOOD MINERAL COSMETICS EXCLUSIVE MAKEUP SPONSOR AT
THE GREENSHOWS NEW YORK FASHION WEEK

NEW YORK, NY (September 2, 2010) — Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics has joined The GreenShows as its exclusive makeup sponsor during New York Fashion Week. This premiere fashion event spotlights notable eco-conscious designers, and will be held September 12-14, 2010 at the Metropolitan Pavilion (123 W. 18th St.).

Youngblood, a mineral-based brand known for its luxurious, gentle formulas, and popular for its superior coverage and performance in high-definition environments, has been developing its products since 1996. “We were asked to do the makeup for other designers during Fashion Week, and we chose to partner exclusively with The GreenShows for our shared beliefs of caring for the environment,” said Pauline Youngblood Soli, President and founder of her namesake company. Youngblood products are proudly made in the U.S.A. and are never tested on animals. The majority of the sleek packaging is made of recyclable material, while cartons are printed on Forest Stewardship Council-certified stock with soy ink.

Youngblood will assemble a team of five makeup artists, including The Makeup Showʼs Director of Education and Artist Relations James Vincent, to work with the showʼs nine designers to create a variety of looks for the models. The teamʼs makeup kits will be brimming with Youngbloodʼs key products including Mineral Primer, Natural Mineral Foundation, Hi-Definition Hydrating Mineral Perfecting Powder, Minerals in the Mist, Pressed Individual Eyeshadow, Outrageous Lashes Mineral Lengthening Mascara and Lipstick.

“Eco Fashion Week is an opportunity for us to show the fashion world that natural, healthy makeup can look stylish,” Pauline said

p.s. I still can hardly believe Oprah is going off the air this year. The final season startsi n 6 days. She gave us Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil-can you believe that? Today she has show on child brides in the United States. Hmmm...

One Woman Chops It All Off for Locks of Love

Locks of Love and Nexxus joined forces to inspire people to donate their hair for a good cause. See one real woman's hair makeover.

Hello friends! I need your help please! The blog received these lovely samples of Surya Henna Brasil Powder.

I have several shades for you to choose from:

Red, Dark Brown, Stawberry Blonde, Golden Blonde and Light Blonde!

If you use henna, here is a great chance to sample a new product line for free! All you need to do is write me with your shipping address, then use the product and take a before and after photo and send it to me with a description of your experience.

I color my hair but it's a mix of L'Oreal, Clairol and some jug of stuff I get from Sally's. I have since learned that once you henna your hair, you can't mix traditional chemical hair color with it-by this I mean that you can't henna your hair this month and then chemcially color your hair next month. So, why not try these for free? Email me already! And to help encourage you please watch this wee video:

Now this next product review is of One Natural body Soap-and here's a lil' blurby about it:

FRESHEN UP FOR FALL WITH THE ECO-FRIENDLY BODY BAR FROM ONE
THINK: Clean body, clear conscience.
WHAT IT IS: A calming clean that’s as kind to the body as it is to the planet. Start the day with the refreshing relaxation of ONE Bar Soap for inner and outer peace. With ONE, green living goes beyond the ingredient list and extends to the packaging. ONE Bar Soaps are sold in recyclable, biodegradable paper sleeves, for an eco-conscious clean. With soothing scents and earth-friendly containers, ONE Bar Soap offers a clean that cares.

Infused with essential oils instead of harmful artificial chemicals, the Bar Soap awakens skin and soothes the soul with every shower. Formulated with glycerin and natural oils for a pure cleanse, each soap comes in a 100% recyclable paper sleeve—because true beauty doesn’t damage the earth.
AVAILABLE SCENTS: Just For Me! (the break you deserve), Peace (for deep relaxation), Sweet Honey (a sugary treat), Citrus Peel (for a fresh clean), Blast from the Past (like a long-lost favorite) and Extra Virgin (the perfect fall fragrance).
WHAT IT COSTS / WHERE TO FIND IT: $6.49 Target Stores, Target.com / $5.99 Walgreens.com

You know I personally try everything ( ok, except the henna for hair) and it does smell nice, washes well, and the minimal Earth friendly packaging reminded me of LUSH products but this is at half the price. One small challenge though, it's got all these great benefits except it's made in China and suddenly I'm convicted that possibility of slave labor making this natural and eco friendly product.

I know you will like it and let your conscience guide you!
