Hi! Happy Tuesday!
Okay, I know the website is not updated, I"m sorry, please forgive me. I haven't had a chance to pay the bill yet to cover the cost of updating! So check the blog for current workshops and goings on!

It's national breast cancer awareness month: so...do a self exam. And...don't use an indoor tanning bed for 12 minutes. Why? Because you just may burn your boobs and then have them blister and peel.

Tonight at the Fresh Start Women's Foundation I am teaching a fave workshop called Makeup 101. It's a $5 registration fee and child care is free. Arrive a few minutes early to class and come clean faced, with your product that you normally use. Yes, I have swag to give out, though the point is to train you in what you already own.

Also....in conjunction with Totalbeauty.com the Makeup University blog is giving away free product.
( I love giving away stuff and to see people win!!)

See you tonight, on the set or around town!

Mascara and getting ready for costume makeup

TotalBeauty.com content:

Maybelline New York Intense XXL Volume & Length Waterproof Microfiber Mascara

Guest review by TotalBeauty.com editor Charli Schuler

This dual-wanded mascara has fat brushes and contains the unpopular white primer, but it's the only one I've tried that delivers a false-lash look and passes the surf test.

Happy Monday!
Okay, mascara is by far my most favorite cosmetic item. It started out in a pan as a dark powder and a small feather brush that you would wet, then make a paste solution out of the pan of dark powder then apply to your lashes and let dry.

I'm sure you can see the challenges that would arise with this method: smudging, flaking, not thick and big enough to your liking without putting on five coats! And then there's the clumping!

Today's beauty bit is about a new mascara, I have not tried this one myself, though I will and let you know my two cents. In fact, I'm ready for mascara. The L'Oreal Voluminous in Carbon Black is dead.

*Newsflash* As you are getting ready for costume makeup and dressing up this month, remember that taking it off is as important as putting it on. The theatre style makeups are thicker textured and a wee more toxic than the average jar of cover girl.

You will need a good astringent cleanser, some exfoliation, and toning to get it off thoroughly and have no residue on your skine. Remember to moisturize afterwards!

See you at tomorrow's Fresh Start womens foundation Makeup 101 class!

Kiss My Face Start Up Exfoliating Face Wash

The zesty lemon-lime-scented wash gently removes dead skin (and makeup) with natural fruit acids.

You wouldn't believe the amount of people I come in contact with that don't wash their face as part of their daily beauty routine. They say "you know, what ever hits it in the shower is fine by me". What!

A proper pH balanced face wash, micro bead exfoliating followed by toning and serum with moisture that has sunscreens in it. Now, that's facial care!

Try this product by Kiss My Face, you can get them at Trader Joes', Sprouts or even Target. And I love their commitment to the environment.

Now...I'll post tomorrow, but this month their will be an added class to the workshop schedule and that is how to do halloween/creature/effect makeup.

If you would like me to come do your makeup for a corporate party or on that Friday October 31st, book me now. I am only taking 5 clients for that evening. Prices vary.

Also....remember....today is the final day of the Tempe Beach park Oktoberfest. The Kinderworld is awesome and free! Bubble machine, carousel, Lego building contest and strudel. What more could you ask for!!!

Talk to you tomorrow and see you at the strudel hop.

Breast cancer awareness month is in full swing for October. To honor my friends and family members who are survivors of any form of cancer, I am offering 20% off any workshop or product and I will donate the proceeds plus match the amount with my own money and send it at the end of the month to the Susan G. Komen foundation.

It important to support your ladies going through chemo with great skin care: non petrochemical, non mineral oil products that are organic ingredient based. Think the stuff you buy from Wild Oats, Whole Foods, Sprouts, Trader Joe's, Arbonne, Jane Iredale and Burt's Bees.

You can get skin care, body care and cosmetics that are 1/10th' of the harmful ingredients of mainstream cosmetics.

It's up to you to read the label and be informed. From Sephora, the Stella line ( yes, she also makes a fragrance and clothes) or Davies Gate and Korres are amazing choices.

You can do it. Your skin and health are worth it. Chemo treated skin needs the mildest of mild soap and very thin layers of moisturizer that are reapplied frequently so damaged skin can slowly absorb it and receive the benefit of it.

The more moisturized and built up the skin is on the outside, the better it can receive a colored product like a cosmetic. Try stains and hydrating foundations.

Way to go ladies of the cancer surviving world! I'm proud of you!

See you at the Octoberfest or a workshop coming this week.

For those who don't color your hair: here's why you should at least give it a try

TotalBeauty.com content:

3 Ways to Update Every Haircolor

Bored? Change up your hair with a simple but dramatic hue boost

Is it just me, or is a color overhaul a little terrifying? Sure, chocolate brown looks hot on Jessica Biel, but frankly, a clown wig looks hot on Jessica Biel. So to help you pick the right color, follow this three-step plan and we guarantee you'll end up with killer shine and pretty tone-on-tone dimension.

Find your color plan

Wow, finally, fall is here! Our Arizona temperatures are coming to the 100 mark, plus, drum roll please....forecasted to be 82 on Sunday. That's such good news it makes you want to cry and put on pants.

Did you miss me? I had to take a few days off to travel, move and deal with stuff!
But I'm back, and better than ever!

The daily beauty bit is for you today: even if you don't color hair because you don't want the roots, or the expense or the whatever...using a demi or semi permanent color can actually give fullness and shine to hair.

Consider getting a box of something ( remember Feria won out hands down as the best at home product, and yes, coupons are available in the sunday paper or from their website) the same shade as what you are normally and try it.

If it's the same shade/tone as your natural hair and you are going up a level or down a level, the results should be shiny, full hair that has body without gel and blow drying.

I think you will like the results.
See you at this Tuesdays Fresh Start Foundation makeup workshop. P.S. I could use a makeup model, if there is anyone thinking of coming and would like to be the model that I teach off of as I apply the steps, email me with the subject line "FS OCT 7 Model".
Thanks!

Happy and thank God it's Friday! woot woot!
