Safety first! Be aware at the salon and beauty counter

Is Your Nail Salon Safe?

Before you go barefoot, check for these healthy-pampering-place clues

Manicures and Pedicures are a great way to relax and pamper yourself - but it can actually be dangerous if your salon is unsanitary. This guide will help you know what to look for and what to run screaming from.

Read the signs

Hello! Oh my goodness we are closer than ever to Christmas!
My shopping is done, and now I just have parties and events to go to. I am making a pedicure appointment as I type!

Oh, but buyer beware! Just as we are so busy and so much is going on, and the beauty counter and the salon are at their busiest, sometimes ( oh gosh! gasp! the horror!) hygiene and sanitation can go by the wayside.

How you ask? Because the people working are pressed and stressed to the max as are resources. So, a little less antiseptic goes in, and a counter doesn't get wiped down thoroughly and eegads, the makeup brushes don't get washed at the end of the day.

So take heed! Here's what you do!

Be the first appointment of the day at the salon for your manicure, pedicure, fill or hair appointment. When buying makeup go to the store when it opens and ask if the brushes are washed. Look at the brushes to check and see that there is no residue on them. If you are making an appointment for having your makeup applied before a big party and holiday pictures, take your own brushes as a back up...just in case.

Too cautious you say? No, not to cautious. Spending a week with pink eye trying to keep it from your family in a community living situation, now that is cautious.

If you get a staph infection and have to take anti-biotics or stay in the hospital, now that takes caution.

Good luck, have fun, be blessed and enjoy this amazing season celebrating the birth of his royal superstar Jesus Christ.

p.s. come see me today at the Best Buy in Chandler because the radio station 98.7 the Peak will be on site from 4-6 p.m. and we are giving away a FREE HP TouchSmart PC.

Yes, that's right. Giving away a free $1500 computer, and by the way, it's super cool. Not just because it has that under the monitor/processor light for the keyboard, but because it can tune in your tv, it's a multimedia hog and I love it!
