Meet MLK2.0 by David Litwin book review

Hi ya Gorgeous!
Happy Monday and February! To say that the time is flying by is an understatement!  I'm so glad for the great activity, though a part of me is ready to just sit and relax in my chair and read a book!

Oh, wait - I did just do that! I just read the book MLK2.0 by David Litwin.  Wow is it ever action item packed and something that you could really benefit by reading!

It's available on Amazon for paperback or Kindle edition.  What I liked best about the book, is the message of hope. Not in the way like Red in The Shawshank Redemption talks about hope, but in the sense that you can truly help yourself, right now, where you are at with what you have kind of hope.

It's really important that in the ayin season that we are in, that you make the most of each moment that comes your way and be listening and tuned in to what your next step is.  So how do you know what the next step is and how to listen to it? Easy. You prepare yourself!  This wee read is a tool to help you, help yourself.

It's a short and easy read with action items that you can do right now! So what are you waiting for? Get started today on MLK2.0 by David Litwin.

Watch the video and see!

And...in other news, since I haven't updated in awhile I also included a wee bit of review on the L'Oreal Feria GlamGrunge hair color in Denim. Nope. Not at all. More like Grungy Elvis Presley!  My hair is not one shade of blue, more like, multi-shades of black!

Okay, it's going to be a very long grow out and cut, grow out and cut, grow out and cut, grow out and cut season for me. Be praying!

Hair news: BIOKAP or hair model

Hi ya Gorgeous,

So today and leading into the weekend, the hair is going to one of two ways: either I am going to use the sample of the BIOKAP Nutricolor Delicato in 5.0 brown that has been sent to Makeup University or I am going to be a hair model in Phoenix and come out a shade of metallic blue.

I wear my hair dark in the winter and with highlights for a warmer tone in the summer. It's time to go dark again and if I don't end up as a hair model - more on that later...I am going to use this kit for home which is a natural and healthy hair color that is not a henna.

I am still in the process of babying and taking super delicate care of my hair to help it heal from a bad bout of thyroid issues several months back. I need to give it one more good short cut to finish cutting off all of the damage and then I may just stop coloring it all together! At this point, I'm just glad I still have hair on my head!

So why the hair model? I feel like I need to push my self a bit more and get out of my wee  comfort zone that I've been in, like a cocoon these past few months and doing something possibly stupid with my hair seems like a good stretch.

My Instagram will follow that journey along if it happens. Instagram, @CherelynnBaker.

Now let's talk details about BIOKAP:

Biokap Nutricolor Delicato+ Hair Dye is the most delicate formulation in the BioKap Nutricolor line, available in 4 shades, without any Phenylenediamine. Its exclusive formula with vegetable ingredients and high skin tolerability nourishes and repairs the hair while dyeing it and covers grey hair perfectly. With TRICOREPAIR complex containing Rice proteins, Willow derivatives and fruit lipophilic acids. Enriched with Argan oil from organic farming, it nourishes the hair and makes it softer and shinier.

When to use it

To cover grey hair perfectly, already from the first application and for a long-lasting colour.

How to use it

From today, using Biokap Nutricolor colours is even more practical: just insert the Nutrifix bottle in the hole outlined on the back of the packet and wear the disposable protective cape supplied. Then mix the content of the colour tube following the instructions given in the leaflet. Choose the shade according to the quantity of grey hair, following the instructions on the packet.

What it contains

Contains TRICOREPAIR, a complex with rice proteins with a restructuring action, Willow derivative with colour protective action and fruit lipophilic acids that take care of the scalp during the application of the dye. Thanks to the high content of unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E, Argan oil protects, restructures and makes fragile and brittle hair shiny.

Notes

4 shades without Ammonia, without Resorcin, without Paraben, without Fragrance, without Paraphenylenediamine nor Phenylenediamines. Nickel and Dermatologically tested.
Before using the product, carefully read the instructions on the package. Always perform a sensitivity test 48 hours before each application.
The 4 new colours of Biokap Nutricolor Delicato+ must not be mixed neither among them nor with the other Nutricolor and Nutricolor Delicato colours.

Hello fashionistas and beauty queens! Okay, I have found something that may intrigue you because you can save money, save time, and did I mention save some money?
I have for some time now touched up my color at home and I have tried a variety of at home hair colorants. Usually whatever is on sale or has a coupon in the Sunday paper. I settled on a glossing color from L'Oreal as a favorite, though I know many a lady who loves the Feria line by L'Oreal.

So I was intrigued when I got the chance to
test the U Color by Umberto.

I recognize the salon name from the Beverly Hills hair salons. Yes, Umberto is a well recognized and trusted name in hair care in the celebrity style laden Southern California.

Umberto created an at home hair color for ladies who want salon results but no longer have the salon visit in their budget.
U Color is a one step sachet packet system of color, developer and equalizer and it's all in a ready to use system which makes it fool proof. Now I didn't say goof proof, but fool proof. There are 24 shades to choose from at Ulta or online.

I folded the packet, snipped off the ends on the perforation and then began to smoosh it into my hair. Now in the photo on the left you can see the finished color. It's a bit red for me? I think if I was picking out my own color I would have gone a shade darker. Alas, it smells good, feels good, my hair is in good condition and the real test is in two weeks to see how this holds up because the instructions say that there will not be a demarcation line where the color was applied and also that the ends of hair won't grab color and build up.

Which that was the challenge before I started...light roots, dark ends and no amount of timing and mixing seemed to even it up!

So far, my experience is really good so I feel safe in recomending the U Color to you. Plus, there are 2 packets per $12 box. One sachet packet covered all of my hair...so I'm thinking this is coming out to $6 per application! Booya! Money saved!

Wanna look great in the heat without breaking the bank? Here's a round up of the best of the best, warm weather beauty products.

Well friends, I try everything myself. This is quite the experience. Funny when it first arrived for the blog, I was thinking "wow, this so reminds me of Japan". And it is from Japan. The Bigen hair color is under the parent brand of Hoyu.

It's a permanent hair color that is water activated which minimizes the amount of processing that goes on with your hair. Meaning there is no ammonia, peroxide and it says that it works with the hair cuticle; using color molecules to penetrate the hair shaft for even coverage. The press release also says that it will leave the ahir feeling silky, natural and elegant looking. Wow. Elegant.

Hmm, what do you think?
Here is the kit when opened. There seems to be a wee character flaw in me because I am not one to carefully read directions. So, please notice the small plastic double sided container that the brown bottle of powder is in. That is what you use to measure how much water goes in. I didn't read that or figure that out until after I had dumped the powder into my usual mixing bottle and guestimated how much water to add.

I put in 3 oz of water and it made a slurry of color that had the consistency of a cherry slurpee.

This is my hair before coloring. Some roots and chlorine/sun bleached, quite dry too.
I'm game for trying anything, so here I begin the Bigen shade Dark Chestnut.

This is the process. I dropped the brown bottle contents of powder into the mixing bottle and added the water. Shook hard to mix and applied to my root growth. When there was barely enough to go around my head, I added more water to finish off the ends after 15 minutes of processing on my roots. There is barely any smell and it doesn't burn the eyes.

Well, here I am out in the hot hot Arizona sun. If you ask me, that's the blackest looking dark chestnut I've seen. Must be the Japanese version of color scales. May I remind you that this is permanent? Oh golly. Well, I 've worn the Bettie Page style before, why not again, right? Right.

My hair feels good, not mushy, brittle, it rinsed well, and only time will tell how the color holds up through the Arizona sun, chlorine from triathlon training and general styling. You can find Bigen at CVS and Sally's Beauty Supply. ( love this place!)

True/False Hair Quiz

Ah, today is a mixed bag of things. A week or so ago I put a post about Snooki from Jersey Shores tweeting a picture of herself using the Bremenn Research Labs emergency zit stick. Well, I had one that came to the blog and I rarely ever get a pimple. Oy! That is until I am daily in the pool, sweating on a run, covered in sunscreen, and suddenly my hot dry state of Arizona has become the hot and soggy but not quite raining state of Arizona. ewww!

So, the zit stick worked. I got a pimple from the variety of elements my skin was in, and then I cleaned up, toned and applied before bed. In the morning, gone. Just a wee bit of redness that was easily concealed by the zinc intensive sunscreen I use to run/swim/bike in!

Try some!

Now, I've got a goodie that just came in that I am going to test for you. Made by Bigen it's ammonia and peroxide free water activated hair color.
Oh yeah baby. I'm going to rub this stuff all over my head and see what happesn. You know the real test of this product is going to be how it holds up in color load, shinyness and duration against the elements of my daily swimming/running/biking in the hot Arizona sun. Only time will tell. I'll keep you posted.

P.S. Remember to get your comments in for the free $50 gift card to Covet in New York city, and also any how to videos you would like to see!
Love ya!

There he is! My lil'piece of Heavenly goodness! Now we have been talking this summer about coloring his hair: he wants it Sonic Blue and I say no. Then he wants it shocking white blonde, and I say no. We meet in the middle with testing this product that came to the blog. A special thank you to Kymaro for sharing this product "Fix My Roots" with me because I too have gone way too long between hair colorings and have alot of growth but no time to get the color done. Until...this! I tested it on me and it worked well. But to really see the product work: enter my model Noah soon to be Kindergartener.

He has dark blonde hair naturally. So we tested the Platinum Blonde "Fix My Roots" by coloring all of the hair from the bangs over the crown and to the back of his head. I also wiped the mascara like wand covered in a fresh slick of product over the sideburn area of his hair. We are afterall on our way out to dinner and if we are going to funky up his hair, it has to be done right.

Next we pick a color to tip the ends of the Platinum Blonde section of his hair. He still wants blue, and that didn't come in the sample so he decided on the Fire Red.

Look at the photo, the Platinum Blonde covered his naturally dark blonde hair enough to appear light, and then there is a vibrant mix of the Fire Red and it really stands out.

We did dry it slightly with the hair dryer per the instructions; the only drawback is it's supposed to last til you wash your hair and his only lasted through a dinner and play session. Could it be the sweat? The rough housing? The humidity in my normally dry Arizona weather?

Or is it that the colors we chose didn't match his natural color and that's why the effect wore off quicker?

Either way, for $20 and a little going a long way, I think this could be worth it as a product for travel and super busy times in life, such as back to school coming up or the holiday season!

In Arizona it's hot, well today was and before that we had several days of stormy clouds and it was so amazing.
Now, with the weather changing from warm to sweaty hot it's time to rethink your hair strategy for the coming summer months. You may notice that many celbrities have shorn their hair and added bangs for a less intensive style routine.
I personally, made the mistake of opting for convenience and price over tried and true, tested results when it comes to my hair color. I have been doing it myself at home for a year now, and I always get the same stuff from Sally's until this week when faced with a busy work schedule, and travel and meetings and my son's own shaggy hair and full schedule: I just got a box of something from the drugstore that was on sale and I happened to have a coupon for.

Well, first off, you should know I missed a spot. A really big spot right in the front hairline pretty much dead center on my forhead, so it's like a laser beam guiding your eye there. (*If you see me, please ignore it) Then, the box said that it was dark brown but what they really meant to print on the box is that it's "light black". Oh! My hair is too dark for summer!

To make matters more unique in my personal hair style: I let it sit on the roots and then smushed it around on the ends but a moment and rinsed it out. So, I have black'ish roots and brownish middle and some light ends. I look like a radioactive zebra.

I only share all of this because the blog just received a sample of "at home hair highlighting" kit. The 'new' thing to do it yourself easy highlighting. Well, not on this swamp water coif. So more on that later.

In the meantime: if you are on a budget and in an effor to conserve cost you do your hair at home: notes from my personal experience are
1. Don't leave it on so long! The instructions said ten minutes but I got busy and forgot. So I sort of deserve it?
2. Stay within 1 to 2 shades of your natural color. You would never believe it looking at me know, but my natural color is about a 6 level! Yes, a 6! Right now I'm currently wearing a 1. For reference, platinum blonde is a 10.
3. Consider every third touch up at your local salon and stylist: that way you have a professional opinion of what's going on with your hair.

Remember, this is the final week of April and the last few days of the "Military Appreciation" month.
