Hello Gorgeous!
Today is #GivingTuesday-a global day of giving back and let's start with one of my favorite beauty brands, Laura Mercier.
It's so nice to have a day of charity and giving after a week of greediness! Did I mention I don't like Black Friday?
Please consider LMOCF for your charitable giving, and if not there, please give somewhere today!
###
Thank
you for considering including LMOCF in your Giving Tuesday round up or
in a “gifts that give back,” holiday gift guide. LMOCF’s three
amazing products that give back 100% to the fund are the Laura Mercier Bonne
Mine Palette ($48),
Lip
Glacé in Peach Hope ($25) and
Bracelet
of Hope ($35).

The
Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund
(LMOCF) raises awareness and funds research to help diagnose, treat and
support women with ovarian cancer and is proud to be a partner for
#GivingTuesday, a Global day dedicated to giving back. On
Tuesday, December 2, 2014 charities, families, businesses,
community centers and students around the world will come together for
one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
Mission:
|
The Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund’s mission is to raise awareness
and fund research and educational efforts that will help diagnose, treat and
support women with ovarian cancer.
Background:
|
In
September 2012, Claudia Poccia, President and Chief Executive Officer of
Gurwitch Products and Laura Mercier, founder of the Laura Mercier Cosmetics
brand, joined together to launch a life-saving mission to shine a light on
ovarian cancer - a disease that has touched both of them through the experiences
of loved ones. Poccia lost her younger sister, Laura Lia Murray, age 39, to
ovarian cancer. Mercier’s dear friend Ranee Flynn has been fighting the disease
for the past three years.
Together,
Poccia and Mercier established the cosmetics brand’s corporate social
responsibility platform - the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund (LMOCF).

United

·
Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center – LMOCF has donated $300,000 to-date to help
Memorial Sloan Kettering’s physician-scientists act quickly on promising
ovarian cancer research, bringing new hope to women. Specifically, LMOCF has been instrumental in
providing the resources to develop a circulating tumor DNA test (a simple blood
draw) that serves as a snap shot of pre-treatment tumor DNA. With this new
test, MSKCC believes they are one step closer to better selecting patients who
will respond to therapies such as PARP inhibitors.
·
Cosmetic Executive Women Foundation Cancer
and Careers – LMOCF has donated $60,000 to-date. LMOCF helped to underwrite
a series of educational how-to videos on topics that affect those living with
cancer. Additionally, LMOCF sponsored the organization’s National Conference on
Work & Cancer, which explores how to address the challenges working people
with cancer face, including topics such as job search, health insurance, legal
issues, working through treatment, and job re-entry.
·
Memorial
Cancer Institute – LMOCF has donated $50,000 to-date to the Laura Lia Murray
Fund for Ovarian Cancer at Memorial Foundation to support key programs at Memorial
Regional Hospital, such as The Ovarian Cancer Tumor Registry Retrospective
Study, which analyzes the hospital’s vast patient database to determine
potential risk factors, better treatment algorithms, prognostic
characteristics, preventative measures, and improved surveillance methods. The
grant also supports ovarian cancer seminars to educate the community on early
detection and risk factors.
·
Ovarian Cancer Canada – LMOCF donated
$10,000 to support the organization’s Annual Walk of Hope, the country’s
largest walk dedicated to overcoming ovarian cancer.
·
Ovarian
Cancer Action (UK) – LMOCF
donated over $70,000 to support the UK’s first and only dedicated ovarian
cancer research center in London, which focuses on improving the outlook for
women with ovarian cancer. The grant supports research that studies the high
relapse rate of the disease and why many women become resistant to chemotherapy
during future treatments.
·
Fonds
pour les soins palliatifs (France) – LMOCF donated $15,000 to fund a music therapy program for palliative care
patients with terminal diseases.
