It turns out Bees do more than most people realize--for such small, short-lived creatures, they do a lot of heavy lifting to keep life on Earth in balance. In fact, one third of the most delicious and nutritious foods on Earth simply wouldn’t exist without bees. Because they are instrumental to biodiversity, they are what scientists call indicator species, so they function as a buzzing alarm system for the health of our planet’s ecosystem. And the alarm is sounding. Since 2006, colonies of honey bees have seen population declines at around 30% each year. Some of the declines are attributed to a mysterious evacuation of the hive by its workers, which soon spells collapse for the hive, hence the name Colony Collapse Disorder or CCD. Researchers around the world have been focused on trying to solve the mystery, but most agree there is no singular threat. Rather, bees and honey bees in particular are facing a number of challenges—pollution, exposure to chemicals, disease, parasites, poor nutrition, even changes in climate. Nearly every scientist agrees that all bees need nesting habitats and a variety of healthy flower food to thrive--and they’re in short supply. Humans have used up all the land--we've planted crops from field edge to edge, lawns from yard to yard (no bee food there), and fancy ornamental plants where once scruffy natives used to stand. While I was attending Spray Tan Camp at The Buttes in Tempe AZ-I brought along a wee bottle of hand sanitizer. That's it in the photo.
I also got a nice bag of sample honey menthol natural throat drops. Did I mention, I love menthol cough drops?
These samples are perfect for me! I did enjoy testing the hand sanitizer because as you know, if you have ever been to a conference in a hotel room it's just two sneezes and hand shake hellos away from being as germy as a school bus.

The Honey with Menthol and Eucalyptus oil drops are a sweet, smooth, calming throat drop and the hand sanitizer makes for a clean yet moisturized hand by using witch hazel and aloe vera.

I continue the snowboard trip saga here in snowy, yes, snowy Flagstaff. Ok, now there seems to be a bit too much snow. Cie la vie says me!

I will post photos soon-because I am testing

several products here in the high altitude such as the Maybelline waterproof mascara-to see how it holds up under snowboarding. Also, the rice oil face cleanser-lets see how it does with sun/wind/snow chapped skin! And, these new tinted lip balms from Burts Bees.

They are bigger than the old version and so far, wear superior to the old version. If you tried those you know what I am talking about-the product would slide on your slips and then form big sticky protusions that could only be brushed off with a tooth brush.

This Burts Bees tinted lip balm is more like a colored conditioner. The color is very very light. In fact, in the photo I am wearing the deep red tone and it doesn't look much different than my natural lip color. I tested two tones: the Red Dahlia and Honeysuckle. Both feel great, but neither leave a lasting tint to the lip. So, as for a gal who likes a bold color-it doesn't give that. But, if you are a gal who prefers a very natural look, this is the product for you. It has spf, feels good on the lips and adds moisture. You can get them at any mass retailer or natural food store and they are just $5.99. Enjoy!

Recently a lipstick brand called 'Red Earth'

Decreased their prices from $67 to $9.90. It contained lead.  Lead is a chemical which causes cancer.

After doing a test on lipsticks, it was found that the Y.S.L. Lipstick  contained the most amount of lead..

Watch out for those lipsticks which are supposed to stay longer.

If your lipstick stays longer, it is because of the higher content of lead.

Here is the test you can do yourself:

1.. Put some lipstick on your hand.

2. Use a Gold ring to scratch on the lipstick.

3... If the lipstick color changes to black,

Then you know the lipstick contains lead.
