OMG. I. LOVE. PERFUME!  I just met an incredibly easy way to find out what fragrance  to gift - by - actually gifting a mini version of it. I just found out about MicroPerfumes.

A big surprise came in a sample of Baccarat Rouge 540! Wow and pow. It has a complex note to it and I swear I get 3 different scents as it dries down from bold, to powdery floral to a soft amber.- in my opinion.

Black Opium by YSL was another sample that in my opinion is as classic as  Chanel. I like this scent though it is not a scent I would buy for me. Having a sample to try, wear and experience before buying is crucial when investing $100 or more per bottle.

Hello gorgeous and thank you for visiting today. May I share with you a bit about the La Roche Posay new line of cleansers called Physiological cleansers?
I'm a fan of their products and they are very french, from France and just visit their website to see the scope and level of dedication they have to skin care.

Why I tease with the title "An American in Paris" versus Paris in my bathroom while I do my skin routine is because there is something different in our skincare when it comes to Europe and the United States.
Many French skincare lines have cleansers that do not require rinsing due to the lack of available water at the time the buildings were made. Hence this is why you see so often the pitcher and basin bowl for washing up in still life artwork.

I just received a sample from LaRoche-Posay called Micellar Solution. It's for extra gentle cleansing without water.  It's a 3-1 cleanser, toner and makeup remover. 

Micelles defined is a process of the cleaning solution micro-encapsulating dirt on the skin surface and lifting it up without rubbing. It's a no need to rinse off, but wipe-off formula. 

It can be used daily to cleanse the skin, tone it, and leavea calm, fresh and pure feeling.
It retails for $18. 

Great. Now that you have the details, may I share my experience? I was having Christian Dior and Chanel skin care flash backs: but I tried it and did like it. Yes, my facial makeup and eyeshadows were removed and yes, my skin felt clean, good squeaky clean but not tight and dry.

Yet, it did not remove my Cover Girl Lash Blast Luxe mascara. After some rubbing and the loss of a lash, I switched back to my normal eye makeup remover from Arbonne International and then gave my face one more quick swipe of a cotton pad loaded with the Micellar solution.

Final answer: does it work? Yes. Worth it? Yes. Especially if you travel, fly, boat, camp, or need a quick change of face makeup between work and going out.  Just know that mascara may need to be left to your specific eye makeup remover or use a non-tar laden brand.

Recently a lipstick brand called 'Red Earth'

Decreased their prices from $67 to $9.90. It contained lead.  Lead is a chemical which causes cancer.

The lipstick brands that contain lead are:

After doing a test on lipsticks, it was found that the Y.S.L. Lipstick  contained the most amount of lead..

Watch out for those lipsticks which are supposed to stay longer.

If your lipstick stays longer, it is because of the higher content of lead.

Here is the test you can do yourself:

1.. Put some lipstick on your hand.

2. Use a Gold ring to scratch on the lipstick.

3... If the lipstick color changes to black,

Then you know the lipstick contains lead.

BACK to SCHOOL beauty trend for 2008 Fall

Here is your first look at what the runway trend for Fall 2008. Now, I know that you are asking yourself, " self, how do I take the runway and make it work for the hallway?"

Let's take the look apart and see what would work great for you, whether it's the hallway at work or at school.

1. The hair. Can't miss it. It's a return to the Baby Jane of the 1960's. A big teased up, tousled bubble of hair. Do half the teasing and half the hairspray. Make a small bump of teased hair and use a product like Finissage to give some piecy texture and softness. For evening consider adding small hair pins or clips at the temple on either or both sides of the temples.

2. The makeup: extreme 1960's mod eyeliner and big false eyelashes with heave pancake makeup to pale and mattify the skin, finished with no blush and a white/peach/nude toned lipstick on the mouth.

How to make this work for you: keep the eyeliner in a dark color, close to the lash and a bit of wing tip, two coats of mascara, a bit of brow groomer over your shadow drawn on brows to pull the hairs up and into place then sealed. A clear brow groomer such as the one made by Maybelline can work and respect the budget.

My favorite and best recommendation for the lipstick look in the Fall 2008 trend is to get Lorac's color made for Geena Davis in the Long Kiss Goodnight movie. It's a perfect pale!

3. The "Monochromatic" look seen on the Runway in Chanel and Dior, is achieved by using a family of colors for eyes, cheeks and lips that are within a shade or two of themselves. Take a peek at the collections, jot down the names and then visit your beauty store, either a Sephora, Ulta or department to try on the colors and get a sense of the texture and feel.

To achieve a great monochromatic look start with a great complexion, use a semi-matte foundation finish ( it's true, you really do need more than one bottle of foundation in your makeup regime).

Use a tone of shadow and blush and lips that are close. It can be bronzes, golds, silvers, blues, pinks, tans or whatever you pick! The point is that the eyes, lips and cheeks are in the same shade range.

Apply to the lid, and lightly highlight the brow bone. Put the monochromatic cheek color lightly on the cheek bone, not on the apple like when you are doing a fresh and youthful look. Follow the bone structure.

Finish the mouth with a nude liner, lipstick and lipgloss that matches the same color as the eyes and cheeks.

This look can be worn in an intense depth of product so it is very bold. Or, in a light sheer application that is very subtle.

Once you know your basic application you can wear any color or product to get the 1960's Mod/Baby Jane, or a monochromatic.

You may also see very bold lips in deep browns, dark purples and very blood red lips with barely there eyes and strong brows. This too is a FALL 2008 beauty trend for makeup. Wear it! I like it! Remember to use a reversible liner if you have a challenge with your lipstick moving around.

A gentle exfoliation of the lip area will help keep the skin soft and less likely to let the lipstick move. Use your toothbrush on your lips while brushing if you don't have a fine grain exfoliator at home.
