A Day in Vegas with The Female Quotient

Hi ya Gorgeous,

This week has been epic and eventful and on a whim I had a last minute opportunity to visit with The Female Quotient lounge in Las Vegas at the OAAA expo via VegasBuzzTV.

Whoa. That's a mouthful.  I first met the FQ at Sundance where they hosted a lovely lounge with great panels around the subject of women in film and the work environment. So good.

I made a day trip to Las Vegas and arrived at the Aria for the conference. It's such a beautiful resort and casino complete with a monorail and luxury shopping center including Hermes and Harry Winston stores.

The Female Quotient lounge had a panel featuring several women speakers on the topic of "the messy middle" - and how to deal with it.

The panel tackled the idea of "perfection" - the myth of balance and having it all while giving practical tips and options for women in the workplace who need help.

When I arrived at the lounge there was a table full of NYX cosmetics and two makeup artists giving makeup touch ups to the ladies. There was chocolate cupcakes, cookies and refreshments. A photographer was taking headshots for use on new business cards

I loved encountering a financial advisor who was there to answer any money questions a gal could have! The event was a good battery recharger and  perfect for a mid year boost to keep working towards the goals I have set ahead.

DIY lip balm - Because Winter Lips Need It!

Hi ya Gorgeous!

Happy Monday! Oh. How I love Mondays! Except this one in particular. Late, late, late last night I got in from Park City Utah. I had spent a long weekend at the Sundance Film Festival. Good times.
Though I really struggled with the weather - the altitude freezing temperature combination was a havoc wreaker!

Which brings me to today's post - the need to have ample moisturizer with you at all times. I think I went through an entire tube of chapstick while there. Technically, this area is considered a high desert. Not sure how they got to that conclusion but what I do know is that it's very very dry even though it's  covered in snow.

So it got me thinking about ingredients and the need to make my own lip balms. Like making my own lotion because then I know what is really in it and going on my skin.

I like using bees wax pastillescoconut oil and a cleaned out pot from a different product that way I am reusing plastic. (I think plastic is the bane of our generation. What was once meant to help has become the greatest detriment to a global citizenry! Or so says I.)

I melt those together, maybe mix a lil scrape of used lipstick tube into the base for a hint of color and then pour into the container.

So I'm getting ready to make a batch and was looking for a new recipe. Maybe something more specific to making my own lip products and came across a blog post from Wellness Mama.

Holy smokes. This gal has got it dialed in and her description of how to make your own lip balm is the step by step instructions you need!  Please use this link to get the WellnessMama recipe and easy to follow instructions for how to make your own healthy lip products!
Good luck and enjoy the making and mixing of your own makeups!

Green Goo and You! What you and your Valentine need!

Hi ya Gorgeous!
Happy final week of January! How was it for you? Mine was fast and furious with the work trips to CES in Las Vegas and then Park City Utah for Sundance.

Phew!

I came home to some lovely samples from Green Goo Helps - in my humble opinion one of the best natural skincare products that really focuses on healing the skin and is made in the USA!

Check out the Makeup University Facebook page for a Facebook Live session demonstrating the products!

Now, meet Green Goo Bath Salts in Relief with eucalyptus and mint!

Our Mineral Bath Salts are harvested from the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Evaporated by the sun and ocean air, this all-natural sea salt has a lovely trace mineral content that produces a beautiful, high quality bath salt. Well known for easing muscle tension and promoting overall relaxation. Perfect for soothing sore muscles, relaxing soaks, and calming foot baths.
Eucalyptus revitalizes sore, achy muscles and helps to clear and soothe congestion. Relax, relieve, and enjoy the tranquility.   16 ounces for $27.95

My experience:  I'm not a bath tub soaker kinda gal - there's just something about sitting in your own stew.  But, I do like to get my fancy home foot spa out and fill it up with goodies like this Green Goo bath salts!  The smell is amazing and the aromatherapeutic properties of the eucalyptus and mint wafts up to my nose so I get the benefits of the foot soak as well as the scent.  I know it's supposed to be "relief" but I found it invigorating!

A delicious blend of organic oil and herbs, with mineral sea salt, designed to gently exfoliate and moisturize your skin while improving circulation, leaving you with a soft, youthful, nourished glow.
Rise Up with grapefruit, bergamot, and ginger as it energizes your senses while warming the body.
Rise Up Like The Sun.

My story: OMG!  This is one of my all time favorite type of body products next to really good creams.  I tried this as a hand scrub, foot scrub and then my entire body. It's vigorous love in a tub. The scent is warm, bright, invigorating and the texture of the scrub is a gritty smooth. Does that make sense? It's scrubby without being ouchy. The best part? It's oily.  It's got enough oil and oil reserve in the tub to make a nice paste to place on a rough body part and give a good rubbin'.  I'm in lovin'!

With all of the products from Green Goo, you can trust the ingredients to be  natural, gluten free, cruelty free, and that the containers are made from recycled ingredients. It's just good stuff from Lyons Colorado!

If you get to the website now, you can get some gifts in time for Valentine's Day!

Go get it!

Now is a time to invest in great skincare products to help keep your skin hydrated and protected during the harsh winter weather!

Here is some specific information on the Stop Itch Spray from the DermaSolve website:

Dermasolve Stop Itch Spray is a safe and natural anti-itch spray made with organic neem oil, tea tree oil, aloe vera juice, lavender, lemongrass and cedar oils. Stop Itch Spray is formulated to provide gentle comfort for serious skin irritations. It can be applied right onto the itch or all over the body including the hair and scalp. Enjoy our clean fresh lemon fragrance while Dermasolve Stop Itch Spray speeds natural healing.

Neem oil is naturally antibacterial, antifungal and contains nimbidin & nimbin compounds, that have shown to have powerful anti-inflammatory properties. Being rich in Vitamin E, Neem oil creates a thin layer to protect the skin and reduce moisture loss and being a natural pain killer (analgesic), neem oil can provide immediate relieve from discomforting skin irritation.
