Happy Monday! You know, I get more accomplished on a Monday than I do most other days!
Todays' beauty byte is all about the home hair coloring system Feria by L'Oreal. If you have tried to color your hair at home you know that it rarely ever looks like the picture on the box.
For those of you who do color at home and have success, here is a brand to try and possibly increase your satisfaction with the at home hair coloring treatment you do.
The Feria line is called "multi-faceted" because it adds a layer of shine to the hair, and truly does come out with a depth to the color instead of being flat.
Think of it like wall paint: some dry flat and matte looking, others have a semi-shine finish and curb appeal!
There are coupons for the product in the local Sunday paper, plus some can be found online.
A rule of thumb when coloring your hair at home:
1. Stay with in one to two shades of your natural color
2. Don't do platinum blondes at home
3. Don't do dark colors such as deep browns or blacks at home.

I know there are many of you who have done your platinums to the point of being white blonde at home, and others of you who have blackened up your Cure colored hair in the bathroom before a concert.

I'm sure it turned out a version of great, though the caution is because when you bleach out and tone hair, you are working at the core shaft level of the hair and the chance for destruction is evident.

Why you don't do super dark colors at home is because of how the pigment adheres to the hair strand. Depending on the condition of your hair, it can actually color darker in some places and lighter in others. Hence, the need for a professional.

If you look at the L'Oreal coloring main page where you can find out more about Feria, it will also have hair coloring help and information. And for once, why don't you try calling the 1-800 number on the box and talk to them about your hair color quest at home.

Good luck and enjoy. Send pics if you've got 'em!
