LOVE AND MONSTERS - A Review 2021 - For Family and Fun

Today, marks the day after everything stopped. Changed. Became covid. Pandemic. Fourteen days to flatten the curve. New normal that is definitely not normal. Friday, March 13th, was the last regular day that my family experienced. It was the last day on the school campus. Last day at work in the office. The 13th was the last of many things, including, freedom to  go to the movie theater! Personally, I love to experience a film, in the theater with other people, popcorn, and a very large screen!

 This film, LOVE AND MONSTERS is a fun, family film. The very first few minutes has a moany groany sex silhouette scene - so if you would like to fast forward past that point it's good from then on and safe for your young ones to watch.

I remember seeing an ad and trailer for this film well over a year ago and was considering seeing it in the theater. The Burbank place is just a quick trip over the hill to Universal to watch at the AMC Theater at City Walk. It's such a fun place to go for a film and then walk the shops and eateries on City Walk.

Yes. That was pre-covid and pre-pandemic. It took a while for me to finally queue this up and watch and I'm so glad that I did! 

I really enjoyed the adventure, the monsters which are well done CGI animations. I liked the characters and sound track and the sense of a quest for the main character Joel.

So why do I write my review now? Because Spring Break is upon us. Yes, even in distance learning (California high schools are still not back to campus. They "may" open back up to partial campus learning in April?)

My point is - with Spring Break travel options being minimal, you may need some options for entertainment. If you need a fun genre mash up film that works well and can be enjoyed by all ages of your family, consider LOVE AND MONSTERS! It's available on Amazon to buy a DVD or stream.

What is Pearl Harbor Day?

Happy Friday to you! I'm so ready for the weekend and then some.  Before all of that Christmas and Hanukkah celebration goes into full speed, here is a quick look back on today, and it's infamy in history.  Today, is Pearl Harbor day and we remember it in the United States with respect to the soldiers lost and the beginning of a war with flags at half mast.

What is Pearl Harbor Day?

Pearl Harbor Day, also known as National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, is an annual observance of the lives lost in the 1941 Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii. 

When Bill Clinton was President, he  declared Dec. 7, 1994, as the first National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day for the United States. This is a tremendous respect for the military and families of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives that day.

It is not a federal holiday with paid time off. Though the American flag is flown at half-staff until the sun sets in honor of those who died as a result of the surprise attack.

This was a catastrophic day and recently one family, finally had closure on the event. This is an excerpt from an article on CNN.com today:

"The Dorr family had been waiting for Carl to come home from the Navy for 77 years. This week, he finally did.

About 15 relatives on Wednesday walked onto the tarmac of South Carolina's Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport. They watched as a flag-draped coffin was lowered from the plane into a hearse.

"There was nothing but dead silence," Carl's 70-year-old nephew, Thomas Dorr, who lives in St. Johns, Florida, told CNN. "I knew that what I was experiencing was history."

 

 

Remembering Pearl Harbor 01:23

Carl David Dorr, one of the 429 sailors and Marines killed on board the USS Oklahoma when it was sunk in the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, will be laid to rest on Friday -- the attack's anniversary.

What To Take On Summer Road Trip

I've been on an extended travel for work, life and my cub going to U of A. As we have been in the RV and at a very public RV park, I have found a need for constantly having a disinfectant wipe on  hand as well as hand sanitizer.

 Whether I am walking the dog to poop at the public dog park, or at the swiming pool, or touching anything anywhere around here at the very beautiful Tucson Lazydays campground based on my own need for keeping germs at bay!

How to Charm with the Charm Vox Box by Influenster

It's Palm Sunday! Oh the joy of this season! My family is busy packing for our annual Passover trip as well as planning some celebrations for Easter before we leave. Phew!

In the meantime and middle of all the fun activities and planning, I received the Influenster Charm Vox Box full of samples that are perfect for a Palm Sunday into Passover with a bit o' Easter celebration!

Below are some photos of the products I was sent as free samples for an honest review. I did make a video, and in trying out the new Chrome and editing software, it was eaten. Gone. All of it. I do not know what happened and I did not have a back up of the original video files - so when I loaded them all into the new editor - they vanished in a crash and nothing could be recovered and now there are no samples or time left to re do it! Arggh! But I digress...  So let's take a look at these goodies!

First up, there were two mini samples of the new scents from Vera Wang. I'm a fan of her fragrances to begin with and these two definitely do not dissappoint!

 This new collection of fragrances are to evoke the intimacy and emotion of Vera Wang and capture moments in time to be cherished and embraced.

 Sophisticated. Intimate. Romantic.  Oh, and I love anything gardenia scented, so this yellow card is my fave of the two. The rose and vanilla scent is nice, but again, gardenia!

It's Christmas Eve

So it's Christmas Eve tonight. Are you ready? Do you have all of your gifts wrapped and ready?

Here's a thought, no matter what you got done for the holidays this year - it's ok, and it's enough. Personally, this has been one of the most non-Christmas like Christmases for me ever. I didn't get the lights up on the house, any gingerbread houses made, no new ornaments created and just flat out, flat holiday season for me.
The pressure at this time of year to perform is insane and un-achievable and to coin a term, Griswold.

So whether it got done or not, please take a moment and relax and enjoy your loved ones.

 This time of celebrating Jesus Christ is about relationship. Some of you may be having a big family get together and some of you may be at home with your fur family and celebrating just as much.

Please be good to yourself and others! You are so loved!

Part of the miracle of the season this year is that Hanukkah begins tonight as well. Enjoy your celebrations and Chag Sameach!

Hi ya Gorgeous,
Thanksgiving is one of my most favorite holidays. I have fond memories as a child of family meals with dozens of extended family members and food and pies that went on for what seemed like miles!

It was so much fun to run amok with my cousins and snack throughout the day waiting for the big bird reveal and then eating way too much that I had to take a nap. We usually watched a movie, on HBO no less, it was such a big deal to have cable after eating and fell asleep during it - no fault on the show- just tuckered out from the travel, the eating, and the tryptophan!

After waking up, it was time for more pie, some left overs and some more running amok and playing. Good times! This year is no different except I am not cooking this year! I love to cook Thanksgiving dinner but it's time to give someone else a turn and my sister-in-love is making the bird.  I'm so excited for a beach cookout!
