Fast Fashion - The "make up" Of

Hi ya Gorgeous, 

Welcome to the first video in the transition to the "make up" of things, sort of like the "IoT" - internet of things that I would like to see the channel steer towards. Today we are talking about fast fashion and the high cost of cheap clothes.

 

 There is an environmental impact of  fast fashion due to the high volume of water needed to produce the cheap fabrics that also require a lot of toxic chemicals to color and process the textiles. Viscose is a particular culprit which is now primarily used in rayon blend clothing and bed sheets.

The circle looks like: social media influencers need a lot of inexpensive 'looks' for their everyday posting of images. Many popular stores like Target, H&M, Forever 21, Walmart, Amazon Wardrobe, Top Shop and Primark make low cost barrier fast fashion easily available. 

Many of these pieces of clothing wear out, fade and due to low cost are thrown away.  They sometimes get donated to charity stores though the quality is so bad throwing them out is usually the answer for the charity.

The 'make up' of fast fashion, in my opinion, is choice. We choose with purchase power and the sooner choices are made to buy less and recycle more, the better.

Perhaps the fast fashion clothing can be made in to simple quilts and blankets that can then be donated to charity? There are answers out there, we just need to look and act!

 

Personally, I think it feels good to buy a new shirt, skirt, shoes, handbag, makeup, dress, shoes - you name it - but, at what true cost does it come? I look forward to reading your experiences!

Say NO to Single Use Plastic: Summer Travel Update

 Hi ya Gorgeous!

Hello Monday and hello last week in June. Whoa. Weren't we just talking about  how fast the time is going? Ok, for me personally, it feels like I'm on a rocket to August when my son goes back to school and it's just to fast!

We started the day with an amazing hike in Prescott Arizona at Constellation Trail. Whoa is this place perfect for families! The trail head has a big parking lot. There is a porta potty at the first split of trails. Some kind hikers have left walking sticks next to the main map for anyone who may need assistance. The trail is very well marked - just look for the white dots to follow! Now, the real joy is the boulders! They are perfect for climbing for all ages and levels of physical activity. So good!

After that we had a great meal at The Barley Hound - so pics are on Instagram!  Then we ended the day in the hotel pool. I'm enjoying the cool water in my Sunset Separates tankini that is a mix and match set so I can get the size I need on top and on bottom. 

Now, when we got into the room and ready for showers we saw the single use toiletries. I know that there is a time of need when you have to use them, but, with a moment of planning, you can be more efficient in your recycling, teach the next generation about how to care for the oceans and our Earth and get more value from the products you own at home.

3 Ways to Renew Your Tired Summer Self with Arbonne Rescue & Renew

 First, the Detox Bath Soak. I do not take baths, like ever because it's a vaginal yeast infection waiting to happen. If you do take baths, enjoy! Or if you are a bath taker and in a hurry, no time for all that tub filling, simply plug that tub up while you are showering and put a shake or two of these salts infused with grapefruit, tangerine, lavender juniper berry, ginger, orange and rosemary.

The water will fill around your feet and give you the aromatherapy on rising steam from a shower. Bada boom bada bing - a quick refreshing!

For the shower, use the Rescue & Renew detox wash infused with orange and grapefruit.  This has a light lather and rinses clean on the skin. It has a fresh and invigorating scent to it.

Finally, I got a box of samples of the Rescue & Renew Detox gelee. Truth. I didn't know what these were when I opened them.

The back of the box instructions said to apply regularly morning  and evening or after sports, exercise or sun exposure. So I opened a tube up and rubbed it all over my face. Talk about tingly. Really tingly. Don't get this near your eyes and I definitely do not think that this is an anti-aging treatment to "rescue & renew" signs of aging.  In fact, I think it more of a sport muscle rub?

I like the light gel, and the scent, and after my next  run I will rub some on and see how that works versus trying to use it as a face serum!
