The Red Menace: How Lipstick Changed the Face of American History - a stocking stuffer book for gifting

Hi ya Gorgeous!

Hello December!

Wow.

Where did the year 2021 go?

There are now just 31 days left in 2021. 24 til Christmas eve!

                                                            Book by Ilise S. Carter

This year took a decade to pass. Or so it feels? Now that there are 31 days and counting, when would now be a good time to pick up a good book? I was sent this copy of The Red Menace: How Lipstick Changed the Face of American History and I really enjoyed the read. I like beauty history and how cosmetics shaped women, the view of them in society and how they feel they see themselves.

I'm a strong proponent of a lipstick has the power to change your day, change your mood, even change your life. A bold red lip can make a gal feel confident.

Like Bourjois, the 1863 cosmetics company founded in Paris France. This vintage lipstick, Ashes of Roses by Bourjois is mentioned in the book.

What is your go to red lipstick? Mine is Charlotte Tilbury Red Carpet.

Christmas time is a perfect time for a beautiful shade of red lipstick. Remember to pick up a copy of the book and some red lipstick to  read in!

Thank you to Ilise S. Carter for the book sample to read!

The DUPE: L'Oreal vs Charlotte Tilbury | Pillow talk

Hi ya Gorgeous!
Happy middle of September. Wow. That happened fast? How did that happen so fast? You know what else is happening fast? The fourth quarter retail season is upon us and that means holiday celebrations. My local big box stores already have the halloween stuff out mixed with Thanksgiving decorations.

This means a time to switch up your makeup and wardrobe. Oh to have boot weather! I was looking for a Fall nude lip to wear and came across the most perfect dupe in my opinion for my favorite yet costly lipstick, Pillow talk from Charlotte Tilbury.

Think - family photos, Thanksgiving, the quick slide into Christmas and then New Years eve. If you love Charlotte Tilbury's lipstick trio, Pillow Talk, like I do - then you know the cost. I love the look of all three products together, liner then lipstick and top off with gloss.

I was looking for a Fall season nude tone lipstick and came across this L'Oreal #171 or Les Nus by Colour Riche Lipstick, Bold & Intense Nudes, Rich Saturated Color with Pure Caring Oils, Nu Confident (Amazon: https://amzn.to/3kclmL6 )  It's easier on the budget at $5.24 plus tax.

One more reason to get a new lipstick, in any shade you love, is because it can boost your mood and lift your spirits.

If life has you down, get a new lipstick! It's an easily affordable treat to help you, help yourself! Thank you for watching - and please subscribe and share! Muah!

*note* Amazon links are affiliates and I get a penny when you use it - thanks!

Fridays are for Fun and New Lippies - 2020!

Hi ya Gorgeous!

Happy Friday!
So, how is 2020 treating you so far? Are you staying on track with your intentions and resolutions?

If you have seen any news, nationally and world wide, there has been one brouhaha after another! Australia is on fire, there has been rumor of World War 3 starting and #megxit is trending due to Prince Harry and Megan stepping down from royal duties.

Wow.
2020 you don't mess around!

So that's why we need a light moment to remind ourselves, that no matter what we face, all things are possible with a great lippie!

This infamous shade, a semi matte blue toned pink from Charlotte Tilbury, "PILLOW TALK" was all over the red carpet at the Golden Globes.

If you buy one thing this year, let it be this lipstick and this link will take you to Amazon to buy a travel size set that is perfect for your purse or pocket as you jet set through your life in 2020.

Coachella beauty tip with Charlotte Tilbury

Hello Gorgeous-
I just got back from the Phoenix conference. More on that later. For now enjoy these Coachella beauty tips from Charlotte Tilbury!

Coachella is the ultimate cool, bohemian festival that often informs beauty trends and fashion styles for the season. The desert setting means dewy, creamy textures work well, rather than powder-based products which can slip off in the heat. These tips from Charlotte will keep you looking gorgeous from Coachella to Governor’s Ball and everywhere in between:

·                  Coachella is all about fringed crop-tops, and leg-baring denim cut-offs; so make like Gisele and use a moisturizing, gleam-getting, gorgeous illuminator cream to highlight your arms, legs, and décolletage. For the face, mix a high SPF with a light-reflecting illuminator like Tom Ford’s Summer Skin Illuminator for glowing protection. Build up the sheen on temples, cheeks and nose to mimic where the sun would light up the face.
·                  Create a seductive smoky eye in seconds with a crème eye shadow pen – you can keep it in your shoulder bag. Sweep over the eyelids, smudging outwards and upwards with your finger to create a winged look. For added summer sexiness, smudge underneath the lower lash line too.
·                  Add a pop of color to bronzed, freckled skin by using a striking stain on the lips – experiment with eye-catching coral, berry and plum tones of Becca’s Beach Tint. Cheat a smattering of freckles by painting them in using a soft, taupe eyeliner.
·                  Lipstick is your best friend. Vamp up your ethereal maxi-dress with a crimson pout and blend a little color onto the apples of the cheeks for an effortlessly pretty, dewy glow.
·                  Keep a little stash of pointed Q-tips, some face-wipes (festival is the only acceptable occasion to use these!) and a mini pot of moisturizer in your emergency kit. A Q-tip can help fix a poised feline flick on even the wildest of dance floors.
