My local big box stores already have the halloween stuff out mixed with Thanksgiving decorations. 

 

This means a time to switch up your makeup and wardrobe. Oh to have boot weather! I was looking for a Fall nude lip to wear and came across the most perfect dupe in my opinion for my favorite yet costly lipstick, Pillow talk from Charlotte Tilbury.

These are three simple things that for the most part are free and I bet you already have at home.

First, I think that laughter keeps you young looking and feeling. Children laugh all the time for any and all reasons and I think that if you can find something to laugh about each day that you will stay looking young because you are young at heart.

The second thing that I think is the best kept secret for an anti-aging routine is rest. Society now is so hardwired and in touch always on the go and it seems that there is never a time for good ol' fashioned rest. I think that the electronics need to be turned off in the evening so that your body has a chance to relax from the low level of stimulation that electronic devices give off. So sitting at the computer just before bed, or watching tv just before bed can inhibit a restful sleep session. Some warm tea and reading would be better for producing a youthful slumber.

Finally, water is the most key anti-aging ingredient that should be in everyone's repertoire. The old adage of drink 8 glasses a day is great, but I think it's more than that because when you drink caffeine you need to drink extra water to cancel it out. I think the secret to looking and feeling youthful is in a pure glass of water. What makes the youth secret of drinking plenty of water even better is it's easy accessability and affordability.

The best anti-aging routine is laugh often, rest more and refresh with water. Now you can add to that by flossing regularly, eating a healthy diet, exercising and using skincare products that increase elasticity and moisturize fine lines.

Hello my friends and loves! Here I am all dolled up to go out on a video game host audition. Think G4 produced and done locally-more on that later. For now, it is one of the most asked questions I get "how to apply false eyelashes?"!

So below is a video and in the pictures you can see two versions: 1) just what it looks like with me wearing the brand Robert Reese in the "dangerous" design.

Then 2) a look underneath the lash to see what the pattern of the lashes is.

I mean there is no sting or pull to this stuff and by the time I am writing this the Robert Reese false eyelashes in Dangerous have been on my lids for over four hours!

Seems I can pop these false lashes on in a moment but require several minutes of very gentle removal. I always use a q-tip soaked in eyemakeup remover and I gently rub along the glue line where it is adhered to my eyelid. I also rub along the bottom side of the lashes to soften the bond between the mascara coat I used to tighten the bond to my lashes with the falsies. So on in a flash and off in several steps. I love the look so much that it's worth the extra effort!

I have been watching this show since my son was still in the womb! So the show ended last night, and it was interesting to watch the characters and how their style went from season to season. Why did Hurley's hair grow, but Jack's didn't? I could wax sentimental on each of the character, though I'll save that for another post. Hello Gorgeous, today, is a very important day, it's set aside as the National Day of Prayer. Wikipedia says this about it: The National Day of Prayer (36 U.S.C. § 119)[1] is an annual day of observance, designated by the United States Congress, when people are asked "to turn to God in prayer and meditation". The law formalizing its annual observance was enacted in 1952.

So, for our nation, I encourage you to take a moment and pray today for the nation, your state, your city and the leaders in government. While you are at it, throw in some other prayers for good measure. If you need help praying this through, email me. I'll help you out!

Cover Girl is Favorite Makeup, According to Market Force Consumer Survey Beauty study by customer intelligence company reveals the cosmetic brands consumers prefer most
BOULDER, Colo., May 3, 2010 — Cover Girl is consumers’ favorite cosmetics brand, according to a Beauty survey conducted by Market Force Information, a worldwide leader in customer intelligence and customer experience management solutions.

The survey examined which cosmetic brands are most popular among consumers and why, as well as their favorite places to shop for cosmetics. It was conducted last month among Market Force’s network of 300,000 independent mystery shoppers and merchandisers – consumers across the country dubbed The Force™. More than 5,000 consumers responded.

Cover Girl dominates among cosmetic brands
Seventy percent of the survey respondents said they wear cosmetics. Out of 60 cosmetic brands, Cover Girl was cited by 14 percent as their favorite, placing it on top. Clinique was second on the list with 10 percent of the mentions, and Maybelline (L’Oreal) and Mary Kay tied for third with 8 percent each. See Graph 1.

Brand trust is greatest influencer in makeup selections
When the consumers were asked what they loved most about their favorite makeup line, they chose brand trust over all of the other factors – the actual product attributes mattered much less. More than two thirds said they love their makeup because they trust the brand, while only one third cited loving it “because it feels wonderful.” Factors like uses humane testing/is environmentally safe were not weighted strongly and emerged toward the bottom of the list.

Now does that report mirror what or how you buy cosmetics? As I was reading it and checking in on what's going to be aired this week on Oprah I came across this blurb on her website "Four brothers were found living in hell...nealy starved to death by their parents. Find out what really happened. Then, a tumor destroyed half her face. Now, she is ready to face the world.".

You know I read that and thought, 'grace grace God, I will pray for my nation, for the great state of Arizona and for all the children who aren't being parented by the Word of God and by the leading of Jesus because He taught love and anyone who is starving their children most likely never experienced love themselves'. Phew, it's going to be a great day of prayer!

MATTIFY ON A BUDGET: Matte nails are a huge trend! Forget purchasing five new shades of a Chanel nail color in a matte finish, keep the hues you have in your arsenal and top it off with a top coat that mattifies the base color! Give those tried and true shades an update with this new finish. Essie Matte About You ($10, essie.com) and Rescue Beauty Lounge Matte Top Coat ($18, RescueBeauty.com) are great affordable options!

PUT A FOUNDATION ON YOUR BASE: Help your drugstore foundation stay put longer with a makeup finish. CREASE NO MORE: Do those drugstore eyeshadow crease and fade by lunchtime? Standard drugstore eyeshadows tend to have less pigment than their department store counterparts, and thus have less staying powder and may apply more sheerly. Experiment with color on a budget, but amp up that drugstore shadow’s staying power with eyelid primers that will intensify your shadows hue and will last all day with no touch ups! The industry staple is Urban Decay’s Primer Potion ($18, sephora.com), but L’Oreal’s De-Crease Eyeshadow Base and Primer ($7.99 at drugstores) is a option, too! Another great tip? Choose inexpensive shadows developed for African American or darker skin tones. Pricier shadows with staying power have more pigment and darker skin tones naturally need more pigment. Inexpensive brands that cater to darker skin are the best beauty buy in the whole store because you get more pigment for your pennies!



LIP VENOM FOR LESS: Brush your lips after you are through brushing your teeth in the morning and a night and apply a thick coat of Carmex ($1.29 at drugstores). The menthol in the Carmex on the fresh lip skin plums your pucker better than any $20 venom and the results last just as long.
