Wine Wednesday with a Twist

 Hi ya Gorgeous!

Happy Wednesday! Oh this middle of the week feels like a Monday! How about you?
So this Wine Wednesday actually has a twist to it - watch and enjoy the video!

Today also happens to be the first day of spring and my Arizona day is actually a lovely grey and cloudy day! Just what I like! Why? Because July and it's month long over 110 degree days with a night time low of 100 degrees is coming! That's why!

I mention in the video Just Judy - my Sundance Film Festival travling buddy who is competing in the Miss California pageant - details here:

JustJudy   https://www.instagram.com/justjudyhb/

All supplies are in the video but for those who may not watch to the end, you will need:
Orange juice
Grenadine
Maker's Mark
Glass
Ice
Straw

Stir and enjoy!

Let me know in the comments what your favorite cocktail and upcoming action film are!

How to use the Beauty and the Beast makeup color story from LORAC for everyday wear

Hi ya Gorgeous

How's your Monday now? Or should I say, how's your summer? Here in Arizona, the summer is in full broil and school for the cub starts back in 3  short weeks ...or are they short? He is definitely ready to go back and see his friends which brings to mind the question that year round school, with a 2 week break in between semesters would do just fine. On to the makeup!

I recently received some very lovely samples from LORAC of their color story collection for the reboot of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

Something to know going forward, I am ride or die for the original 1990's animated version and none to thrilled about another warmed over version of an Oscar winning trophy of a film.  In short, I have not seen the film yet, and when it arrives on Netflix, I will let you know my thoughts.

In the meantime, I think that LORAC has knocked it out of the park again, with Disney, and another amazing, collector edition of a makeup color story for a film. I was SO impressed with the Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales collection ,though this is just as stunning.

I have the eyeshadow pallet, cheek color palette, lipglosses and lipsticks and I'm beyond delighted! The colors are everyday perfect and if you know LORAC products, you know how soft, silky, smooth, blendable, pigmented, wet or dry they are!

I love all of the lip colors and the lipsticks or lip glosses can be worn alone, with liner, paired together or mixed and matched!

If you are a fan of anything Disney, Belle, Beast, the film or LORAC and special editions, rush to get these now because who knows how long they will be around!

BEARLY film teaser trailer inside

 Hi ya Gorgeous,

Quick update on blog things and film making and going  forward with good intentions!

Makeup University has been around for seventeen years - whoa -17 years and that's jsut a portion of my makeup  artistry work.  All  ofhat makeup doing business startedvia a sideways connection from my film making.

See, I started makeup sideways on a film set where I was working on the crew in a different capacity and one thing led to another and the next thing you  know I was doing makeup full time and had more gigs paying the bills versus directing film and video gigs. Phew.

So I stuck with it. That is until my wee cub, the love of my life said he had no desire in taking over the makeup business  but really loved video making, story telling and content creation.  Sigh.

So I dusted off some old scripts I had and moved forward  in their production.  I have Jael A Western Tale, Nascar Nights, BEARLY and ZBoy all in various stages of production .

Which brings me to BEARLY - which just had it's teaser trailer drop, you can  see that below. Enjoy and stay tuned for more makeup mixed with film posts!

It's the last day to get your BEARLY tshirt/tank!  Remember to look on the BACK!

Twilight: vampire makeup, again?

TotalBeauty.com
8 Cities in America with the Least Tattoos

See which places are the least tatted up

8 Cities in America with the Least Tattoos

This is a TotalBeauty.com body article

We geeked out and did the research to find out which cities in the U.S. have the least amount of tattoo parlors. Did your town make the list?

See cities

Hello gorgeous, I write today after having seen the Twilight movie finally. Yes, I say Twilight not Eclipse. Tonight at the Red Box I'll get the New Moon and I was watching for a few reasons:
1. My hair stylist Star was the last straw on the camel's back telling me about how good it is.
2. I am a longstanding Vampire Lestat fan and don't think that anything could top it
3. I am curious

So with that said I did watch the movie and I did like it. When it comes to the vampire makeup and effect, it's very similiar to the Anne Rice characters shown in the Interview with a Vampire movie starring Tom Cruise as Lestat and Brad Pitt as Louis.

I was thinking I would do a how to video, though there really wasn't much to "how to". It's all pale matte skin and stained lips with contacts for changing eye color. Even Bella is very pale though pretty.

IF you want a how to video, comment and I can get one together using drugstore products. I see that there is this website http://twilightbeauty.com/ where a specific set of colors per character is sold. Anyone using it? What's the texture and pigment load?

Okay, enjoy the beauty bubble and I'll be back at you tomorrow with a New Moon report!

p.s. if you are in AZ, remember we are under heat advisory today for 112, with tomorrow and Friday being 113. Ouch! Double the sunscreen and hydration!

The White Queen 'how-to' from Alice in Wonderland

These pro tricks will take your mascara to a whole new level
How to Get Long, Thick Lust-Worthy Lashes
So you just bought that top-rated mascara. Now what? Put it to good use! It's all about using the right techniques to get your longest, thickest lashes ever.

Gorgeous! Good wig too! Alice in Wonderland fans! I have another quick how-to lesson so you can achieve this look for your prom, party, date, or back yard bbq.
Start with these few products and easy steps:
1. Foundation: select a very light shade and there are so many sales going on right now you can pick up a bottle of porcelain toned liquid foundation for nothing! Get some good setting powder in a matching porcelain shade while you are at it.  Smooth on entire face and neck area.
2. Eyes: Matte beige on browbone, matte plum/light brown along lash line and under eyes, there is a glowing halo around her eyes created by the plum brown shadows. Smudge a dark brown liner into lash base. Apply a ridiculous amount of mascara on top and a wee bit on bottom of lashes.
3. Eyebrows: look, either you've been using the Revitalash and have already grown in some personal Brookes or you haven't. Either way, here is how you can have full brow hair: start with dark brown shadow/powder and cover the eyebrow and begin to shape in to the full square at the nose and tapered towards the end. Use colored brow wax ( like Loracs or Arbonne's) to stroke hair like pieces of wax onto the eyebrow hair. If you need more fullness, go over the wax with more powder.
4. Lips: you need three shades to create the mouth. A dark red liner, a slightly lighter deep red and then a muted pale pink for the center. Line your mouth and make the defined points, then using a lip brush apply the deep red lipstick tone and finish using a clean brush with the pale pink in the center of the mouth.

You look just like a queen and you will be the belle of the ball! Enjoy!

Alice in Wonderland "Queen of Hearts" makeup how-to!

See which plumpers gave readers full, kissable lips (and which ones did absolutely nothing)
Lip Plumpers: The Good and The Bad
Jealous of Angelina Jolie's lips? Our loyal readers share the lip plumpers that gave them just the right amount of plumping, shine and color, as well as the ones that gave them red, swollen, bee-stung lips. Ouch.

She is beautiful! Unconventional? Sure, but that is what makes her so great! I am super excited about the movie! In my humble opinion there are going to be alot of costumes in the Fall that are Alice in Wonderland themed so start planning your makeup collection now.

You will need:
1. Deep red lipstick
2. Creme blue eyshadow in two tones
3. Black eye pencil
4. Mascara
5. White creme makeup and white setting powder
6. *Brow wax you get from costume shops/theatre shops  This item is not necessary though you can either shave off your eyebrows and then grow them back quickly with Revitabrow, or you can just color them blue or my favorite: seal them in brow wax.
7. **Set of false lashes for bottom eyelashes

Her makeup is easy!
1. Seal brows in wax, let set up and make sure there is a firm seal
2. Cover face in white creme makeup: use foundation brush, smooth with damp sponge, apply thin layers til you build up the coverage
3. Set aside two flat tipped synthetic brushes: use one to cover the light blue all over the eye in two large tapered squares. Make the vertical shadow line from inside corner of the eye, up about three inches, over, and then match the heighth from the outside corner of the eye to the top of the blue shadow box line.
Use the second brush and slightly darker blue to create a shadow line along the lashes and a blended line along the hollow of the eye. Very very subtle! Just enough to create depth to the eye.
4. Glue your bottom set of false lashes on and apply mascara to the top. No eyeliner
5. Use black pencil to draw thin arc of eyebrows on making the ends slightyl thicker and square in shape. Go over the pencil line with black shadow or liquid black liner to emphasize the darkness and make them wear longer.  Use the black pencil/liquid liner to fashion a small black beauty mark dot just below the left eye on the upper cheek bone
6. Using red lip liner, draw a heart shape in the center of the mouth, now using lip brush apply a great deep red lipstick.
7. Finish with white setting powder! Now shout "off with her head!".

See you at the movie gorgeous!

Alice! Alice! Alice! Disneyland'ish!

What's appropriate (and not!) when it comes to grooming, makeup and more
We Solve Your Biggest Beauty Etiquette Dilemmas
Never know when to tip the bathroom attendant or tell a friend she's making a huge fashion faux pas? Here you'll find the answers to the etiquette questions that have long confounded you.

Oh this is not the Alice in Wonderland of my youth! I am so excited for the movie and wonder what character I will makeup as for the premiere? Hmm...  Well while I ponder on that, visit this link to read a story by composer Danny Elfman and what it was like creating the sound track.

And I quote Mr. Elfman "Although the "Alice in Wonderland" score is richly orchestral and graced with choral voices, there is one unforgettable moment where it deviates from that sound – people are sure to leave the theater buzzing about the scene in which the Mad Hatter (Johnny Depp) dances the "futterwack." We won't say another word about it, except to tell you that it brings down the house! "It was crazy!" Danny says with a grin. "I wrote all different kinds of pieces for Johnny's futterwack dance – and I came up with that one on the last day. Tim wanted something funky, and that's what he got!"

Get your Alice style on and see you at the theatre!
