Now, finally-the new Fall season of tv is starting tonight. I have some favorite shows that I like watching and want to see what happens after last season's cliff hanger! Can you say, The Good Wife!

But-in a programming strategy by CBS, they have hammocked the new Tea Leoni  drama "Madame Secretary" between the always popular 60 Minutes and faithful watchers of The Good Wife like me.

So, yes, I will be watching Madame Secretary just becasue it comes before my favorite show and the tv most likely will be on after 60 Minutes. Personally, it's nice to have a break because my family loves watching The Amazing Race and it's usually on after 60 Minutes and leads straight into The Good Wife.

What’s Really Stressing You Out and Tips from Dr. Murad To

Manage Stress

 

Stress can damage your health at the cellular level, Howard Murad, M.D., FAAD, has determined through clinical research and found that managing stress is a critical part of an Inclusive approach to optimizing health as it promotes and protects cellular integrity.  In his book The Water Secret: The Cellular Breakthrough to Look and Feel 10 Years Younger (Wiley, September 2010), Dr. Murad explains how Emotional Self-Care is key to mental and physical well-being.  Take a look at several factors that can stress you out and some tips on how to manage the stress!

 

What is Stress?

Stress is typically felt by most people who experience it by irritability, heart racing, and their face feels hot, headaches or upset stomach, an impending feeling of doom and even the smallest factors can irritate most.  Studies show that when subjected to constant stress, humans can develop certain life-threatening afflictions, including heart attacks and strokes.

 

What is Cultural Stress?

Studies have shown that people who live in “blue zones,” places where people live long, lean lives into their 90’s, all have a common dominator – a low-stress lifestyle.  Some cultural stressors include work, supervisors, children, tardiness, technostress, and constant e-mail.  Dr. Murad discovered throughout his studies of more than 50,000 patients, that using the Water Secret to create healthy, hydrated cells, helps the body fight aging and disease and more importantly, the ruinous effects of Cultural Stress.

 

Health Impacts from Stress

2. Disconnect: There’s an odd duality to being attached to machines that allow us to connect with others around the world in an instant. In a nutshell put down your phones!  Take time at least twice a week to not check your phone or email. It’s a healthy mental break.   

 

3. Start Your Day Off Right:  Deficiencies in B vitamins, vitamin C, calcium, magnesium stress out your body and trigger and increase in cortisol levels, not to mention food cravings.  Many people skip breakfast and can easily find themselves lacking these critical nutrients and in turn rely on caffeine to stay alert and productive throughout the day.  Try eating a handful of berries (vitamin C), six to eight ounces of low-fat yogurt (calcium and magnesium), and a slice of whole grain toast with natural peanut butter.  Whole grains are loaded with B vitamins, while peanut butter contains fatty acids that can decrease the production of stress hormones.  Peanut butter will also keep you satisfied longer. 

 

4. Eat “Brain Food”:  About two-thirds of our brains are composed of fat, and the protective sheath around communicating neurons is 70 percent fat.  In essence, we need fat to think and to maintain healthy brain function, as well as normal growth and development. The omega-3 fats in salmon (often called “brain food”) as well as other cold-water fish, walnuts, flaxseeds and olives have numerous proven health benefits, including those that protect your heart.  It is also important to limit your intake of processed foods! 

 

5. Exercise:  Exercising regularly nourishes the skin with oxygen while sweating flushes out toxins. It will also improve digestion and increase one’s metabolism and endocrine function so that the entire body is functioning at an optimal level.

 

According to Dr. Murad, “Healthy skin is a reflection of overall wellness.”  When the body is at optimal health, the skin will follow suit. 1. Mix ingredients together in a bowl.
2. Spoon into a decorative, waterproof container

Instructions for use: Apply a small amount to damp skin while in shower or bath. Gently scrub skin with a soft washcloth. Rinse thoroughly.

Talia Shobrook, lead makeup artist for this season’s Jenny Packham show, complemented the red carpet designer’s “chic yet playful” collection to develop a makeup look that was a fresh, modern take on “1960s Las Vegas glamour.” According to Shobrook, the end result was “dewy skin and soft coral lips framed by jewel-like eyes with long, fluttery lashes.”
   
Face: “Dewy skin” was key to keeping this look fresh and modern.
• Talia first applied Laura Mercier Oil-Free Day Lotion SPF 15 ($95) and Laura Mercier Foundation Primer - Hydrating ($32) to prep the skin and create an even canvas for makeup application.

• She then applied Laura Mercier Moisture Supreme Foundation ($43) all over the face, and concealed problem areas with Laura Mercier Secret Concealer ($22) and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage ($30).

• To highlight the contours of the face and give the skin a healthy glow, Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 – Illuminating ($43) was applied to the forehead, nose, chin and cheekbones.

• Talia contour the cheekbones using Laura Mercier Bronzing Pressed Powder in Dune Bronze ($32). She then applied and blended Laura Mercier Gel Lip Colour in Hibiscus Bloom ($22) to the apples of the cheeks. Eyes: Talia used various shades of blues to create flirty, “jewel-like” eyes.

 • Talia first gently pulled up the eyelid at the brow and applied Laura Mercier Eye Pencil in Midnight Bleu ($20) straight across the lid, starting just below the lid’s crease and extending slightly beyond the outside corner of the eye.

• Using the same eye pencil, she then filled in the area of the lid below the line and repeated the steps using Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Black Turquoise ($20). Talia gently pressed a layer of Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Lagoon ($22) over the liner to set it.

• With a dome-shaped brush, she then applied Laura Mercier Metallic Crème Eye Colour in Platinum ($22) from above the crease of the eye to the brow bone.

Too much press is a problem most designers would kill to have; but the frenzy surrounding Katie Holmes's debut at New York Fashion Week on Wednesday was enough to prompt an unprecedented ban on uninvited media.

The Holmes & Yang Spring 2013 presentation was only open to a select group of fashion's ruling class.

 In addition to a few elite magazine editors, former American Idol contestant Katharine McPhee and make-up artist Bobbi Brown, who just signed Holmes as spokeswoman for her cosmetics line, gathered for the event.

Holmes daughter Suri, however, was a no-show. (Burn? No, she started school this week.)

Holmes and her longtime stylist Jeanne Yang launched their label back in 2009 and have been working towards their Fashion Week debut for three years.

The timing couldn't have been better. Hot off her divorce, Holmes' NYFW debut punctuates her emancipation, after 6 years under her ex's micro-management.

While most Hollywood actresses are fiercely scrutinized when they first crossover into fashion, critics largely seem to be rooting for the star.

The looks were very much in keeping with Holmes's own classic style. "It's basically pieces that have evolved from basics, but not too far," Holmes told WWD. "They're just nice, well-made luxury items that highlight the woman wearing them."

 Hi all!
I just  got introduced to a new beauty product from Osmotics called Blue Copper Lip and Tuck-it's a gloss that plumps and hydrates. It was created by Francine Porter and is an Allure Best of Beauty winner.

My sample is blue in color and called Natural though it goes on smooth and sheer with a bit of shine. Love it! There is a wee tingle-but not a sting.

It has a very faint scent and no real taste-which is a good think after eating off my DiY Kool Aid lip stain. It sells on the Osmotics website for $35.00 and look in the events page-there are Nordstroms and Dillard's in store events going on through the month of September!
