Life is Beautiful festival in Vegas-34 days away, did you get your ticket yet?

Howdy Purty!
Shabbat shalom! Oy how I pray your are enjoying the day and the adventure it holds!

A few things of note:
1) Today at The Stitch Factory I will be teaching a makeup workshop-so come on over! 2 pm start time-bring your makeup bag and questions! Anything goes!

2) I will be speaking in the Downtown Speaker series at Inspired Theater tonight, Ern's BBQ is handing out some free Q for you. So come on out!

Next, as if all that isn't enough of a reason to come check out the new "old" Las Vegas, the Life Is Beautiful festival is!

This is the view from my balcony at the Ogden, and it overlooks "Zappo'landia" which is an open lot, but wait! Next month on October 26-27, the entire 15 block radius will be fenced in and full of food, cooking demonstrations, music, TED like talks of inspiration, Cirque du Soleil will be performing and so much more.

It is a family event, so plan to bring the kids. And sunscreen! And the camera! And a way to take notes on all the cool stuff you will learn. I am so ready to be stage side for Cat Cora cooking!

This event is the first of its kind. I feel so Lollapalooza! So Coachella! I was at the first of those events, so it's only fitting that I am at this one too.

Visit the www.lifeisbeautiful.com site and get your ticket before it's sold out!

One of the vendors there in a category of mixing drinks will be the DCR: Downtown Cocktail Room.
I was there for the Tech Sip meetup and while waiting for the event to start, I was sitting at the bar, just minding my own business, and marveling at the menu and the many, many tinctures that are available for mixing.

Now there is a lovely Mezcal tequila mix on there, but look to the right, see the extensive list of absinthe selections. Oh it's green fairy time alright. Hello Toulouse.

Perhaps I should really be saying "Hello Jeffery Bennington Grindley", he is the bartender who made a short flight of absinthe choices for me to sample.

He went into detailed explanation about the wormwood oil, the films and flavors and provided a wee taste of two absinthes: an original recipe from 1805 France called Pernod that you see on the left of the photo and a new recipe in the floral range from Montana called Ridge Vert on the right.

The Pernod on the left is definitely "green fairy'ish" and a very strong, anise flavor like a Good & Plenty candy. The Ridge Vert on the right was more perfumey. I like to wear my perfume (Joya No.6 for this adventure) not drink it, so I finished the Pernod and found the Tech Sip party for the Downtown Project.

Now if you want to sample the latest recipe of the month from Downtown Cocktail Room you can find it at the corner of Las Vegas Blvd and Fremont St. Note to you, the entrance is in the alley. Ask me how I know.

Be sure and come out for the Life is Beautiful festival and taste an award winning fresh cocktail recipe while listening to the Kings of Leon!
