OGX Shampoo & Conditioner Litigation - What You Need to Know - The "make up" of a lawsuit

Welcome to the Monday blog for MakeupUniversity. There is some hullabaloo and fluff afoot for the very popular drugstore brand, OGX.  I have been a fan for some time. They are in court about some of their ingredients.

There is some talk amongst the beauty bloggers about the OGX brand having multiple shampoo and conditioners that have DMDM Hydantoin as an ingredient which is known when activated in water, can cause cancer.

This ingredient is used as a preserver in cosmetic products. More details here:

I saw on IG, that Kandee Johnson was talking about this and she did not know about the ingredient and its effects on the body when doing her collabs with the brand. I have bought so many of those products! I love the smell and supporting her. I can honestly say, I did not read the very fine print on the back of the bottle where the ingredient is clearly labeled, in fine print.

Long story short? Yes, horrified. No, not continuing to use the products and sharing the story here to help others who may not be aware.

There are a few drugstore brands, that are natural and respect the budget. One of my faves is Shea Moisture. I have already switched back to the Shea Moisture

2020 - Here I Come! First Video Blog Post of the Year and Decade!

 Hi ya Gorgeous!

Ok, here it is. The first video for 2020 and January and the era. I'm excited. Special shout out to the beautiful and amazing Kandee Johnson for her first video of the year that encouraged me to post a video too.

 Whoa has this year, 2020, January, been a bumpy ride or what? Wow. I can, and can't believe how much is happening worldwide when it comes to the tea and it spillin'!
No drama for this gal. I'm looking forward to accomplishing goals, breaking sales charts, exceeding speed limits in time lines and over all, takin' names and kickin' butt in a good way!

3 Questions with Kandee Johnson - House of Achi Launch

Hi ya Gorgeous!
Happy Monday! Well do I have some thing for you today and it's a word of encouragement that you can take with you into the rest of this week! So get ready!

Last week I had to be in Los Angeles - and just happened at the last minute to get an invitation to the House of Achi product launch party. Thank you Lola for the invitation!

 
 Makeup University gets invited a lot and I never go - and like Ms Frizzle says "take chances, make mistakes, get messy" - so I did! I went to the party and I'm so glad I did. 

 Bites were provided by the Doheny Room and consisted of seared sea bass mini lettuce cups, chicken meat balls in marinara and a mini cheeseburger. Nom nom!

Cocktails were provided by Tyku Sake and Electric Sky wine.

 Their was a carnation wall for taking photos with the new style "photo booth" where it's a mirror like image with a camera in it and the whole surface is active so you can sign your name on the mirror and then it shows up on the photo.

 I thought it was going to be a traditional press junket set up for interviews though it was more run and gun guerilla style inside the club atmosphere. So, my apologies for the busy background noise and video that is not well lit. But - close your eyes and listen to the wisdom Kandee imparts to you! It's so good! If you are hurting right now or feeling discouraged, she has a word for you, just you!

Prom makeup tutorial with Kandee Johnson

Hello ya Gorgeous Gal!
First things first, I'm so sorry for not doing my own 2014 Prom look video! I have no real reason or excuse except the extreme schedule of a soul crushing gig-which, I am DONE with. Thank you Jesus.

Now, before I half way gather and get something together that may not be my best because of time and that weird thing my new camera does when it racks focus on its own. (Possessed much?)
