Monday Mashup - GRWM for NAB & More

Wild Spirit Fragrances for Back to School Confidence

Oh boy do I ever love a Monday. Anything and everything is possible on a Monday. I have a jam action packed week ahead of me and though it's a lot of work, I'm excited for the creative challenge!

Back to school is in full swing here in Arizona and in Nevada and many other places around the country. That could mean, "back to bullying, being teased, harassed, having lunch money stolen," and in  general a miserable life for a kid.

Do you remember ever having a job that you hated, but you needed the money so you still forced yourself to go and being there made you physically sick, but you had to go?

For some kids, that's what back to school is like instead of being the joy of seeing old friends, having new clothes, shoes, backpacks and school supplies.

So this fragrance that I came across (details in the video) is perfect for a kid, boy or girl, who is going back to school and needs a boost of confidence.

I agree with Coco Chanel, that fragrance is the best accessory! As is a smile!

Gettin' Ready for Mother's Day - Gift Suggestions For You

I think I've said it before, but just in case, I love Mondays!  I get so much accomplished!

Mother's Day is this Sunday, May 13 - which is also my birthday! Every couple of years as the calendar cycles, my birthday and Mother's Day fall on the same day.  I get double the celebration!

I must say that as a proud mother of a son, I find my most favorite Mother's Day gifts are the ones he makes for me. He is an excellent technical artist and draws the most intricate ships, tanks, planes and aircraft carriers.  I love receiving his artwork!

Though some wine, chocolate and perfume is good too with the help of Grandma and Grandpa who take him shopping for me.

Happy Fair Day with Demeter Dirt Cologne Spray

Today in my wee town is the county fair. It's old fashioned and I love it. When I was a child, I participated in 4-H and always had a lamb in the livestock show of the fair and then some artwork too!  Fairs are good family fun!

So we are heading out pretty soon for a long day of sun and fun, fried foods, shows, and rides. My son loves the rides and I used to but after giving birth I get wicked motion sickness. Any one else have that challenge?

JOY by Jean Patou Collectors Edition

TGIF! Woo hoo! It's almost 2017. I can hardly wait. 2016 has been a frosted turd of a year and I am ready to put it behind me. I boldly go into the future and excited for all that the new year has in store for me, Makeup University, you and the world! It's going to be a hallmark year, I just know it.

For those who are new to Makeup University, you need to know, that I am a fragrance lover. I would wear a great parfum, fancy boots and handbag and call myself ready for the day. No cares for my Walmart tshirt and thrift store jeans, if my boots, bag and fragrance are in order than so is everything else!

 
With that said, I just received a sample of the ultimate fragrance, JOY by Jean Patou.

I love this scent. I have wanted this perfume for decades, since I was a young girl in a small town and smelling the scent strip in a Vogue magazine.  I kept one of the soaps for myself and have shared the other three with my Mom and girl friends who need something powerful for the new year.

 In my experience, everything about this scent is beauty, luxury, and power. It has amazing silage and it dries down into a rosy jasmine blend that is warm and inviting. This is the collectors edition and I'm so excited to have it. I will definitely be replacing my normal Chanel No5  with Joy for the events coming up in Las Vegas.

Now I have been seeing online that it's sold out - do not dismay - just keep looking and visit your local Nieman Marcus and ask if they have it available. Trust me, you want this! Cheers to the  best 2017 ever!

Fragrance Face Off: Versace Crystal Noir vs Miami Glow by JLO

Today I have a blog post with a video for you on one of my favorite subjects...fragrance!

I absolutely love fragrance and I think that perfume is the best accessory!

Makeup University received two fragrance samples, Miami Glow by JLO and Versace Crystal Noir.

I really like both scents, though I love the Versace Crystal Noir.

Details on Versace Crystal Noir: According to Donatella Versace, Crystal Noir is a rare essence, sensual and delicate. The central note of the composition is mysterious gardenia, fresh, sensual, luminous and creamy, reproduced by 'headspace' technology,. Amber and musk in the base make the scent dark and mysterious, very sensual and distinct. The fragrance was created by Antoine Lie in 2004.
( I can hardly believe this fragrance is ten years old? About $40 online)

Notes on Miami Glow by JLO
Miami Glow creators drew their inspiration from the enormous success of its forerunner, Glow. This perfume is ment for very young women. Miami Glow is the soul of this city with its palm trees, beaches, parties, freedom and passion. Jennifer Lopez says that beside her home town, New York, Miami is her favorite city in the world. It starts with lush and juicy notes of pink grapefruit, coconut water, passionfruit and blackcurrant. The heart is a blend of orange blossom, helitrope and cyclamen. The drydown is sensual and sunny in a sensual vanilla, musks, blond woods and amber vail. Miami Glow was launched in 2005. The nose behind this fragrance is Caroline Sabas.

Oh yeah! I'm a fragrance junkie! Ooh and I love a new fragrance! Just in time for fall in Arizona I have sampled and enjoyed ( so has the toddler) the new YSL fragrance Parisienne with a media campaign featuring Kate Moss.

And though I love the fragrance, I love the price point. Most fragrances seem to be hoving in the $65 range...though this is only $39 for a generous size.

It's a step up f rom using a classic YSL fragrance like Baby Doll. This scent is part Damask Rose and part blackberry with an intriguing scent that lasts.
