Zzyzx Exploration | Wanderlust Activated!

Welcome to today's video which is an inspirational exploration of the Soda Springs area on the opposite side of Death Valley. Yes, it was hot. 

 

 

 

 

I have passed this uniquely named road for YEARS - and never stopped. Then I saw an old youtube video about it and what is at the end of it. Curiosity piqued? Yes! 

It is a hidden gem and oasis. I saw a large herd of big horn sheep. So much wildlife and birds and beautiful diversity in plants. I am so glad I stopped to look even though it was insanely hot. 

 

I encourage you today, what is the one thing you have not done but want to do? Do it!

Makeup in Space?

 Hi ya Gorgeous!

Happy Friday! Oh wow - what a whirlwind! We just got back from Washington DC and it still feels like a dream to have been able to make that journey with my son. To everyone who donated and made the mission possible, thank you! 

 One of our favorite parts to the trip, was a journey into Virginia to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy a Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. 

We took a subway train, car ride and then bus ride to get back to the station to take the train. It was definitely an adventure and a good lesson for my son. There is very little mass public transit in Arizona or California meaning we rely on the car the majority of the time.

Washington DC had a clean, easy to use metro subway station with lots of options for quick travel. The fares seemed to be reasonable?  You buy a card for $2, then load it with money to ride on - and when you exit through the turn style you swipe your card and it debits the cost of that trip from the card. 

Easy peasy.

Now about the space makeup that was on display in what I would call a "memorabilia" case.

Look closely at the tags and you can see that from left to right: eyeliner, mascara, eye shadow, makeup remover, lipstick and creme blush.  I thought this to be the coolest thing ever. Ladies in space lookin' good! I think sometimes, putting on a fresh face and a pop of color on your lips can brighten your mood and help you take on the day.  This display did not say who the makeup belonged to or which astronaut traveled with or used it.  I just liked seeing the makeup as part of the history of NASA.  Way to go Revlon!

There was a second display of some of the male astronaut body care products including lotion, deodorant, razors, tooth paste, shave cream and lip balm. The white with tan stripe pants in the background of the photo are a type of diaper to be worn under the flight suit to allow for a bathroom break. 

Finally, the shuttle that has been to space and back - meet Discovery. It's on display in a hangar in the museum and you can walk all around it but not in it. It was a real delight to see this piece of living history and possibly the makeup that rode in it.

Among Us Crockpot Dinner Ready ! Imposter Life ...

On the Road to Sundance 2019

 Hi ya Gorgeous,
Happy Friday and double happy long weekend. Thank you Dr Martin Luther King for all of your service and moving forward on ideas and dreams!

Which brings me to Sundance Film Festival. Next week, talented actress Judy and I are hitting the road to Park City in a Volkswagon for Lions Rest Productions.

For those of you who would like to know more of the story and why this female filmmaker story is on my makeup page - here's the back story: a century ago, or so it feels like that, I had started in work in film production. So like I was saying - I finished my first film degree in Arizona, worked on some studio productions, then went back and did another version of a film degree in New York before working on some independent productions and then bada boom bada bing, I wound up in the makeup trailer.



After a turn in the 90's at Slamdance and SXSW with my first film series, "The Satori Chronicles", I'm now returning to the beginning and taking my talent with me!

We are producing a project along the way to document the process and then have some meetings in Park City for SVOD acquistion and distribution. Amen!
