Tony Awards: will Bradley Cooper win for The Elephant Man?

 Hi ya Gorgeous!
Tony Awards are on tonight, are you watching? I want to watch and find out if Bradley Cooper wins for his role as John Merrick in The Elephant Man. I was fascinated by the movie as a young girl. I SO wish I could have seen the Broadway show!

Let's learn a bit more about the Broadway play "The Elephant Man" and have a product review too!

So far, the play has 4 nominations including a Tony Award for Best Actor for Bradley Cooper. Now since the show has moved onto London, I figured I would tie in a London product for men.

Meet Molton Brown London Sport anti-perspirant sportstick. Why include it here? Because acting can be some serious business and I am guessing that for Mr. Cooper in his transformation into John Merrick on stage, live, in front of the audience that he works up quite a sweat!

This stick is available at Nordstroms, Amazon.com and on the Morton Brown London website

ABOUT THE SHOW

Bernard Pomerance’s play tells the story of a 19th-century British man (Bradley Cooper) whose severe disfigurement made him a star of the traveling freak show circuit. When the renowned Dr. Treves (Alessandro Nivola) takes Joseph Merrick under his care at the London Hospital, he discovers that beneath this shocking exterior lies a brilliant mind and an unshakable faith. Soon all of Victorian high society becomes fascinated by Merrick, especially the beautiful actress Mrs. Kendal (Patricia Clarkson). But with his new life comes new complexity… and as Merrick's condition grows more severe, a "normal" life begins to seem all but impossible.

Trivia

  • The real-life “Elephant Man,” Joseph Carey Merrick, lived in England from 1862 to 1890.
  • The 1980 David Lynch film The Elephant Man also depicts Merrick, but is not based on Pomerance’s play.

History

The play was first produced on Broadway in 1979, winning that year’s Tony Award as Best Play. The production was adapted for television broadcast in 1982. A previous Broadway revival was staged in 2002. This production was first produced and presented in July 2012 by the Williamstown Theatre Festival in Massachusetts.
